Yellow Wiggle Emma pulls out of tour due to chronic health condition
Children’s entertainer Emma Watkins, best known as the Yellow Wiggle, has pulled out of the upcoming Wiggles tour to undergo surgery for a chronic disease.
The 28-year-old old is battling endometriosis, a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows on other parts of the body. The lining can appear on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, stomach, around the bladder and bowel.
Watkins will be replaced by an understudy at shows from Tuesday until next month on the Gold Coast, South Australia and New South Wales.
She said the decision to undergo surgery was “difficult”.
“I have been in a lot of pain for the past couple of years,” she told the Daily Telegraph.
“Put your health first and get a diagnosis so that you are in the best position to manage this crippling disease,” Watkins encouraged other women.
Two years ago, the performer married fellow Wiggle Lachy Gillespie.
Watkins revealed that their doctor advised them to wait at least 12 months to “recover from this surgery” before they try for children.
