Smartphone reveals if you’re thrifty or a big spender when travelling
When it comes to travel, your choice in smartphone could be revealing more about you than you know.
According to travel company, Trivago, those who use android phones are willing to spend less compared to their iPhone using counterparts.
Stats revealed that those who use an apple product such as an iPhone or iPad spend, on average, 24 dollars more on accommodation per night compared to android users.
Additionally, Apple lovers are also more likely to choose a five-star hotel, with 21 per cent opting for luxury compared to a lesser 17 per cent amongst those with Androids. Android users are also more likely to purchase budget accommodation (under $100) than flashier Apple users.
As well as a discrepancy in price, smartphone users are also at odds in where they choose to stay. Android users are more likely to stay near a city’s CBD, while those with iPhones most often choose location according to star/user ratings. The latter is more likely to stay in Kuta or Seminyak, Bali, while the former prefers Thailand’s Patong Beach or Bangkok.
Just when we thought Android users are the cheaper of the bunch, they managed to barely beat out Apple users when choosing spa and pool preferences, though Apple owners more often look for locations offering Wi-Fi.
When you think about it, these findings all make sense. If you’re willing to pay the premium price for an Apple product, you’re also more likely to splash out on travel and accommodation.
