A photo of Princess Diana as a young girl has been shared to mark what would have been her 60th birthday.

Althorp House – the Spencer family’s ancestral home and where the late royal’s brother, Charles Spencer, lives – shared an adorable childhood photo of Lady Diana Spencer taken by her father.

“Today is the 60th Birthday of Diana, Princess of Wales,” the tribute began on Twitter.

“Diana was born in Park House, on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk which is seen in the background of this family photograph taken by Diana’s father, the 8th Earl Spencer.”

In the photograph, the future Princess of Wales can be seen with her hair in pigtails and wearing knee-high white socks with leather loafers.

It’s unknown how old she is in the photo.

Charles, the current Earl Spencer, has opened the doors of Althorp from July 1 to allow royal fans to visit and pay tribute to his sister of the UK summer months.

Diana’s grave is at the family home, on an island in the middle of a lake on the estate.

Park House, where Diana was born, was built in 1863.
