"Heartbreaking": Days of Our Lives star dies at 67

Arleen Sorkin, the actress known for starring as Calliope Jones in Days of Our Lives has passed away aged 67. 

Her death was confirmed by filmmaker and DC Studios CEO James Gunn, in an Instagram post shared on Sunday. 

Gunn also praised Sorkin for her memorable role as the original voice of Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series

"Rest in Peace, Arleen Sorkin, the incredibly talented original voice of Harley Quinn, who helped to create the character so many of us love. Love to her family and friends. ❤️," he shared with a throwback picture of the late actress. 

Tributes have poured in from celebrities and fans alike.

Actress Nia Vardalos, the star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, commented on Gunn's post: "Ah, God bless her." 

"Heartbreaking. Arleen's spirit was a light and charming as her mind was quick and sharp," wrote American actress Sharon Lawrence, known for her role in NYPD Blue.

"She was the perfect voice for Harley. I remember her as Calliope on Days of Our Lives when my mom would let me watch with her when I was a kid," one fan wrote. 

"The definitive voice of Harley Quinn, rest easy," wrote another, with a black heart and dove emoji. 

"My childhood is fading away. Thanks to all for the amazing memories," commented a third.

Star Wars star Mark Hamill, who voiced The Joker alongside Sorkin, also shared a tribute on X, formerly known as Twitter. 

 "Devastated to learn we've lost the brilliant Arleen Sorkin. Not just a wonderful talent, but a truly wonderful person," he wrote. 

 "I'm grateful not only to have worked with her, but to have been her friend. Sending my heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones."

Sorkin's cause of death has not been revealed.

She is survived by her husband TV producer Christopher Lloyd and her two children.
