BREAKING: 2Day FM axes Grant Denyer's breakfast show
<p>The 2Day FM Breakfast show has been axed again, with Grant Denyer, Ed Kavalee and Ash London to remain in the Hit Network.</p>
<p>Their final show will be tomorrow morning, with Grant Denyer’s future at the station remaining vague.</p>
<p>In a statement released by the head of the Hit Network, it’s highlighted where the trio will go.</p>
<p>“Ash London will continue to host Ash London Live nationally from 6.30 pm weeknights,” head of the Hit Network, Gemma Fordham, said in a statement.</p>
<p>“Ed Kavalee will continue to fill in for Kate Langbroek, who is enjoying the European summer with her young family, with Hughesy from 4.30pm. Grant Denyer will continue making appearances around the Network.”</p>
<p>Fordham announced that music will be played for breakfast instead of having hosts in the morning slot.</p>
<p>“2Day’s Music for Breakfast will be played by Jamie Angel, who returns to the 2Day airwaves,” she said.</p>
<p>The<span> </span>Grant, Ed and Ash<span> </span>show is the sixth breakfast show in as many years that has been axed by the network due to poor ratings.</p>
<p>In the most recent round of ratings that were shared in July, 2Day FM had just a 3.1 per cent market share.</p>
<p>It’s a long way behind FM market leaders<span> </span>Kyle and Jackie O<span> </span>from KIIS FM, who have a 10.9 per cent market share, WSFM’s<span> </span>Jonesy and Amanda<span> </span>who have an 8.5 per cent market share and Nova’s<span> </span>Fitzy and Wippa<span> </span>who have a 7.5 per cent market share.</p>
<p>After breakfast show leaders Kyle and Jackie O decided to leave 2Day FM in 2013, the breakfast slot at the network has been dubbed the “poisoned chalice” of radio.</p>

<p>Breakfast shows that have failed on 2Day FM since the departure of Kyle and Jackie O are:</p>
<p>2014: Merrick Watts, Jules Lund and Sophie Monk with Mel B</p>
<p>2015: Dan Debuf and Maz Compton</p>
<p>2016: Rove McManus and Sam Frost</p>
<p>2017: Em Rusciano and Harley Breen</p>
<p>2018: Em Rusciano, Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer</p>
<p>2019: Grant Denyer, Ed Kavalee and Ash London</p>
<p>It’s unknown whether the breakfast trio knew of their show getting axed, as host Grant Denyer posted a video on his Instagram a day ago about a throwback on the breakfast show.</p>
