"Absolutely despicable": Anthony Albanese slammed for Tourette's comment

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has issued an apology after making a sarcastic comment about Tourette Syndrome during Parliament’s Question Time on Tuesday.

During a heated discussion, the PM addressed Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor and said, “The idea - I mean this nonsense that they carry on with, the idea that we’re... have you got Tourette’s or something? You know, you sit there, babble, babble, babble.”

Albanese immediately withdrew the comment and apologised.

He went further on Tuesday evening, saying he knew the comment was inappropriate as soon as he said it.

“Today in Question Time I made comments that were unkind and hurtful,” he said.

“I knew it was wrong as soon as I made the comment. I apologised and I withdrew as soon as I said it but it shouldn’t have happened.”

“And I also want to apologise to all Australians who suffer from this disability. I regret saying it, it was wrong, it was insensitive and I apologise.”

Despite his apologies, his comments drew much criticism from Shadow Health Minister Anne Ruston, who said that “mocking a disability is no laughing matter”.

“This is absolutely despicable behaviour from (Albanese). The Prime Minister must immediately apologise to the entire Tourette’s community,” she posted on X, formerly Twitter.

“Australians living with Tourette’s deserve the PM’s respect, not his ridicule.”

Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia president Mandy Maysey, who has three children with the neurological disorder, was also outraged by the prime minister's comments, saying she was “absolutely livid”.

“I’m incredibly disappointed and just gobsmacked somebody that has the national stage would use that platform and Tourette syndrome to make an insult,” she told 7News.

“That’s my perspective as president of the association. As a parent, I am absolutely livid and disgusted. It shows a lack of education.”

“At the very least he owes the Tourette’s community an apology,” she said.

“This shows we have a very long way to go until Tourette syndrome is taken seriously as a condition.”

"Absolute breakthrough": New hope in search for Motor Neurone Disease cure

Melbourne researchers are one step closer to finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease, with the help technology and stem cell research.

Scientists at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health have developed a world-first technology that will speed up the drug testing process to help find an effective treatment and maybe even a cure for the disease.

New machines at the institute can now help determine whether drugs on the market could be used to treat MND in just weeks, a process which previously took decades.

"This is an absolute breakthrough, it's at the cutting edge of technology," Florey MND researcher Professor Brad Turner said.

Animal cells were previously used to test the efficacy of MND drugs, but now thanks to more than 100 MND patients who donated their skin cells to the institute, researchers have a library of stem cells to work with.

The human stem cells can provide scientists with the full scope of the disease, something that they were previously unable to do with just animal cells.

"This is really a game-changer in that we can use their own cells, and we can test drugs directly on their own cells," Florey MND researcher and neurologist Dr Thanuja Dharmadasa said.

Large scale screening will commence thanks to a $5 million grant from the Australian Medical Research Future Fund.

The research is expected to help people like Phil Camden who has been living with the disease for 10 years.

"That's the key to all of us living with MND... we want to do what we can while we can," Camden said.

"We know we're not doing it to find a cure for us. We're doing it for those in the future, my grandkids and their children."

Scientists believe that medication or a cocktail of drugs tailored specifically to a patient is the way forward when it comes to treating the disease.

"Therefore your drug treatments are tailed back to the clinical makeup in the dish and we call that personalised medical treatment," Turner said.

Image: Nine News

“Absolutely livid”: Woman discovers she’s been fired via text on her wedding day

A woman has recalled the moment she discovered she had lost her job after her boss delivered the news via text on the woman’s wedding day.

The bride shared that she got the message from her boss just 30 minutes after she walked down the aisle.

The woman shared the story with Ben Askins, who regularly shares stories online of toxic employers, as she read out the messages she received on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

“On my wedding day, half an hour after the ceremony, I got a text from my boss to let me know I had been fired,” she said.

The message from her boss read, “Hey, I hope your wedding went well and that you had a nice time away. I just wanted to let you know that the decision has been made to unfortunately let you go.”

“An email has been sent to your personal email address detailing this. I'm really sorry that it didn't work out and wish you all the best moving forward x.”

As she was surrounded by loved ones, the bride struggled to contain her emotions as she quickly checked her emails.

“I hope your wedding went well and you had a good time. This email is to inform you that your employment will be terminated effective the 20th of May,” the email read.

“Your employment has been terminated as we unfortunately feel your performance doesn't meet the expectations that we require for the role.”

The woman explained how she felt her manager's email was a “coward's way” of letting her go while she wasn't at work, and was unable to defend herself.

“I wasn't going to let it go but what they did... I was really angry at them,” she said.

“They had the opportunity to do it in person. Everyone was let go in person except for me.”

Askins said the woman’s story was one of the “worst things” he's ever heard a boss do to an employee.

“It's meant to be one of the best, most amazing days ever and they've done that to you,” he told the woman. “You have every right to be absolutely livid with them.”

Askins' video of the woman’s story has been viewed more than 600,000 times, with many taking particular issue on the bride's boss for being “petty” and “inappropriate”.

“This person could have waited a day. It's done on purpose to ruin your special day. Only narcissists would do that,” one said.

Another added, “The fact that she texted her to let her know about the email is so petty. She wanted her to know on her wedding day.”

Bride slammed for “absolutely ridiculous” dress code rules

A bride-to-be has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after her exhaustive list of wedding day dress code rules has divided the internet.

A wedding guest took to a wedding shaming facebook group to share the list of attire rules she received alongside her invitation to the nuptials, sparking a heated debate over the “absolutely ridiculous” dress code.

The specific dress code nitpicks at colour, fabric, length, print, and even the “vibe” clothes give off.

The invite read: “Dress code: Formal (non-black tie) wear. Suits (preferably dark blue or dark grey, no tuxedos), ties, and dress shoes for men. No need to get creative!”

“Linen is better suited for our welcome party; please wear a traditional fabric for the wedding.”

“For women, tea-length dresses are great. Knee-length also works, but make sure it is not too casual (no summer floral dresses, for example) and floor-length is fine but make sure it is not an evening gala gown.”

“Avoid any outrageous necklines, cut-outs, or sparkles. The idea is to be formal and glam, but not like you are on the way to a black-tie gala. Solid jewel tones generally work better than florals. No black please!”

“Most importantly, please make sure to cover your shoulders and back with a cardigan or light scarf!”

The huge list sparked a debate online, with some people claiming the bride is “controlling” and “entitled”, while others defended the bride and groom.

“When in the hell did we start telling guests what to wear?” one person commented, “This is utterly ridiculous and if I received this invitation, it would go directly into the bin.”

Another person wrote, “What is 'traditional fabric'? Am I supposed to show up in undyed wool? If we're being pedantic here, linen is pretty much the most traditional fabric in terms of historic use.”

“They should just pick a uniform for the guests,” another said, while one wrote, “I honestly don't know if this type of dress or outfit exists?”

Some claimed they would go against the dress code on purpose, as one person wrote, “I'd show up in an above-the-knee black floral number with cold shoulder cut outs and a sparkling neckline. For fun, it would be made out of linen.”

However, a few people were quick to defend the bride and groom.

“They could be getting married in a church, mosque, or synagogue - where this is a requirement. I would rather an invite tell me this than show up and not have known. Telling people gives people the opportunity to RSVP no if it's an issue,” one wrote.

“To me this isn't exactly unreasonable,” another said. “It's not some huge list of dos and don'ts or very specific colours that must be adhered to or avoided. It helps guests who have no idea what to wear.”

An Aussie man who was onboard the Singapore Airlines flight that plunged 6000 feet, leaving one dead and dozens injured, has spoken out for the first time.

A heavily bandaged Keith Davis told Today that he is still in shock over what happened, and shared graphic detail of what happened straight from his hospital bed in Thailand.

"We'd just finished a fantastic holiday in the UK and were one more flight away, nearly home - and this comes along," he said.

The flight took off from London Heathrow on Monday night and bound for Singapore with 211 passengers on board.

Davis and his wife were among the 56 Australian passengers when the plane was struck by severe turbulence just minutes into the beginning of the breakfast service.

"It was absolute carnage, instantly, it was absolutely surreal and there was no warning," he recalled.

"When you come into turbulence, there is usually some warning, but this was just a freefall and before we knew it - we were on the ceiling and then bang, we are on the ground."

Despite looking battered and bruised, Davis said that his wounds were just superficial, and his wife had an even longer road to recovery ahead.

"(My wife) fell into the aisle and she didn't move from then on," he said.

"She hit the ground so hard and you know, I leant over her and said, 'hey honey, you're okay', I could see she was breathing and she could speak, but when someone hits the ground, they're going to try and get up and that wasn't happening.

"And then I realised I was pouring blood all over her and I thought, wow, we're in a lot of serious trouble here.'

Davis said that his wife remained conscious the whole way through, which he said was a blessing as she doesn't have a brain injury.

"She's had a severe spinal injury and she has no sensation from her waist down," he said.

"She's got all of her wits about her, she's strong and we just just want to get home."

Nine Australians remain in the Bangkok hospital, and three are in the ICU with severe injuries.

Doctors have also confirmed that a lot of those injured have got spinal issues after hitting their head and landing so hard on the ground, with several of them requiring surgery after showing signs of paralysis.

Image: Today

"An absolute hero": 10-year-old boy rescues drowning swimmer

Miles Babcock has been made an honorary member of Careflight after saving a woman who was drowning in Sydney Harbour.

Miles, who is just 10 years old, was paddle boarding with his dad Graham when they spotted the woman who was struggling in the water.

The 10-year-old remained calm and collected after spotting the woman in distress, and began directing his dad over to help the woman out of the water.

Graham could not contain his pride for his son, telling Today that he did everything in his power to rush to her aid.

"I'm just incredibly proud, it's one of those confronting situations where you never really know how you're going to react," Graham said.

"But Miles was the one who spotted the lady in distress, he kept the board steady and told me to get in the water and go and get her, he helped get her onto the board, helped turn her onto the side and helped pat her on the back to help clear her airways."

"And then as soon as I asked him to jump off the board because we needed to get into shore as quickly as possible, he just did exactly that."

Another nearby paddleboarder helped get the lady onto Miles and Graham's board, while Miles stayed behind to catch a ride back to shore with another boarder.

"He was a real, real trooper and an absolute hero on the day," Graham said.

"And then all the people who came in and helped were just fantastic, it was one of those things where everyone came together."

People on the shore had already called triple zero and the Careflight team worked with lifeguards and paramedics to help get the woman to hospital where she is recovering.

In the days after the rescue, Miles was called into the Careflight base to meet with the crew who helped the drowning woman, as they made him an an honorary Air Crew Officer and praised his "heroic rescue".

Outraged Qantas flyer captures "absolutely unacceptable" act

Qantas staff have been condemned for leaving a pet crate abandoned on a Sydney tarmac in torrential rain.

An outraged passenger captured the moment she saw the pet carrier, and a trolley full of suitcases, left in the rain at Sydney Airport on Friday, and shared it to social media.

Sydney was hit with heavy rain on Friday, with some parts of New South Wales recording a month's worth of rainfall within a single day.

After passengers had been loaded onto the Qantas aircraft, the concerned traveller noticed the animal had been abandoned in the rain.

"Unfortunately the weather was unavoidable, but this luggage was left out in the open in Sydney for 30 mins and the animals for 15 minutes — one facing the rain," the furious passenger wrote on Facebook.

Travellers on the same flight were quick to comment on the woman's post, saying their luggage had arrived soaking wet.

"[I was on] on same flight, my luggage came home wet. Thinking a cover in these conditions would be nice," they wrote.

Others expressed their concerns for the animal left in the crate in the rain, saying it was "animal abuse" to leave a furry friend in those conditions.

"Those poor fur babies," one person wrote.

"I'd report this if I saw it. Should have brought this to the attention of ground crew ASAP."

A third added, "I'm unimpressed by the luggage but those pet carriers out there is absolutely unacceptable. I'd be fuming if my boy was stuck on the tarmac in a cage in torrential rain, making an already stressful situation even worse."

"Disgusting to leave those fur babies out in the rain. Almost animal abuse," another said.

A spokesperson from Qantas told Yahoo News that they are investigating the incident and that the airline "takes the safety and welfare of pets travelling with us very seriously".

“Absolute monster”: Bridezilla slammed for unreasonable bridesmaid rules

A woman has shared the reason she quit her best friend’s bridal party, after she was presented with a 14-page contract to be a bridesmaid.

The woman was excited to celebrate her friend Laura’s wedding to the love of her life James, and shared how Laura was a very regimented bride.

“We began planning everything, having multiple meetings to make sure we all are up to date on all plans,” the bridesmaid said in a Reddit thread.

“She is a bit of a neat person and very organised. She made all five bridesmaids and her maid of honour a binder of our duties... We keep track of appointments, vendors — pretty standard stuff.”

“But that’s not all that’s in there.”

The bridesmaid then shared an extensive list of rules the bridal party had to follow for the big day in relation to their physical appearance.

The list included 12 bizarre rules about how they were to look on the big day, saying everyone must wear size-eight dresses, tattoos must be covered or removed and brown eyes are banned.

“No visible tattoos. Must be removed or covered with makeup. No jackets or long sleeves to cover them,” the bride began in the extensive list.

“Full head of hair. No shaved sides or back. Must have a professional wig on if a haircut is not acceptable.”

“Hair can not be too short. It must be able to be braided. Also if your hair is too long like to your waist, it will need to be cut. Hair must be blonde or black. I will tell you what colour is best for you.

“You must fit into a size eight dress. I don’t want to see tents (too big) or rolls (too tight). Dresses have been ordered at size eight only.”

“No brown eyes. That’s James’ and my eye colour so you will need to get contacts. Blue is required.”

Other things banned in the bridal party are “harsh tans”, visible scars and eyeglasses.

“Get contacts or go without for the day,” the bride added.

The bridesmaid felt the rules were directed at her, as she was furious with her friend and decided to leave the bridal party.

“Here is where I started to backpedal and want to walk away,” she said.

“I have very thick but fine hair. I keep the sides shaved down and the top and back long like halfway down my back which helps my migraines.”

“I also have an Eeyore tattoo and a bear paw print tattoo that shows. I also just had bariatric (gastric sleeve) surgery so I’m working on losing weight. I also have glasses.”

Upon looking through the contract, she was mortified to see what the bride expected of her bridesmaids.

“The final kick in the pants was the contract — 14 pages front and back of everything we are required to do. Like not getting pregnant, attend meetings and events, as well as constantly communicate,” the bridesmaid said.

Along with the demands, the bridesmaids were each required to gift the bride and groom a minimum of $150 and “some type of expensive alcohol”, along with a $400 fee to be a bridesmaid.

“I tried to explain I can’t afford this and she told me I had to figure it out. I figured she lost a bridesmaid, me.”

In a follow-up post, the bridesmaid confirmed she was no longer in the bridal party after she quit.

“I am not doing the wedding. The bride is mad but I don’t care,” she said.

Her post has been met with more than 640 comments, with many describing the bride as an “absolute monster”, “cruel” and a “bully” over her outrageous demands.

Image credits: Getty Images / Reddit

"Absolute original": The Office star dies aged 50

The Office star Ewen MacIntosh has passed away at the age of 50.

The comedian shot to fame for his portrayal of oddball character Keith Bishop in the UK version of the sitcom, starring alongside Ricky Gervais.

Tributes have flooded in for the star, led by his co-star Gervais.

He wrote, “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”

Stephen Merchant, who co-wrote The Office with Gervais, said he was “so very sad” to hear of the death of MacIntosh, who he described as a “lovely and uniquely funny man”.

“I fondly recall we asked him to improvise an out-of-office message, and he was so hilarious we started writing more and more dialogue for him,” Merchant said in an Instagram tribute. “He soon stole every scene he was in. A total one-off. A tragic loss.”

Ewen’s management team announced his passing, writing, “With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh."

“His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home."

“There will be a private cremation for family & close friends soon & a celebratory memorial later in the year.”

His pal Ed Scott wrote, “I am completely devastated by the loss of my very good friend Ewen MacIntosh.

“He may have had a famous face known by millions as Keith from The Office but the person inside is what I will most remember.”

Away from the popular sitcom, Ewen struggled to get roles and went bankrupt in 2016.

MacIntosh teamed up with Gervais once more for a small role in After Life, and also had minor roles in Little Britain and Miranda.

He also opened up on his health battles, revealing in 2022 he had been admitted to hospital, saying it was a "Bad times for me I’m afraid chums," while urging his fans to "Stay strong out there.”

"Absolute joke": Hefty pay rise for traffic controllers met with outrage

A new union pay agreement that would see junior labourers and traffic controllers working 36-hour weeks earn $120,000 a year has received mixed reviews.

According to reports by the Herald Sun, the Construction, Forestry, Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) was close to cementing a new pay agreement with the Victorian state government that will see its workers given “at least” a 5 per cent pay rise.

The three-year agreement would guarantee that basic labourers and traffic controllers would earn more than $2000 per week plus another $260 a week in travel allowance, equating to 23 per cent more than the average full-time weekly income of $1838.

Those working overtime or more than five days per week would earn much more than the $120,000 a year figure, which is for a basic 36-hour week.

CFMEU boss John Setka told the publication that the rise was to help workers combat the rising cost of living.

“It could be more than 5 per cent,” he said.

“Everyone is allowed to increase the cost of everything but we are not allowed to increase wages — fair dinkum? We want a pay rise to keep up with the cost of living and we are not allowed? We are not going to be the sacrificial lambs.”

The proposal was met with mixed reactions online, with some people on social media wondering how the labourers were able to make higher wages than those with valuable degrees.

“Let me see. Get a tertiary education and become a teacher or a paramedic. Or hold up a pole all day and get paid 50 per cent more. Only in Victoria,” one person wrote.

“Visit any of the train crossing removal sites around town and you’ll see dozens of people doing nothing but standing around and looking at their phones, and just a handful doing anything that could be described as work. It’s an absolute joke,” another said.

A third added, “Who other than the union thinks it’s realistic for a labourer to earn $120,000 in the same state where a trained doctor earns $83,000 first year post grad and doesn’t get to $120,000 until five years post grad.”

Despite the outrage, many came to the defence of workers, saying the pay rise is well overdue.

“It’s called traffic control and it is dangerous, hard work,” one X user wrote.

“We respect trades in this country do not try to be America about this. Also a field that’s becoming more and more female dominated I’m sure that plays no part in the righteous indignation of men who earn $200,000 a year to say things on radio.”

Another said, “I dare anyone talking s**t about this job to do it for a single summer day.”

“Absolutely disgusted”: Why shoppers are outraged over Woolies Christmas charity request

An outraged shopper has called out Woolworths for asking struggling Aussies to donate to a Christmas charity appeal, despite raking in record-breaking profits.

The Woolies shopper snapped a photo of a donation trolley in one of the supermarkets, asking shoppers to donate food to OzHarvest ahead of the festive season.

The supermarket, who recorded profits of $1.62 billion in the last financial year, have long been accused of price gouging in the face of the ongoing cost of living crisis.

As a result, the angry shopper said the supermarket giant "needs a stern talking to", saying the company should "be forced to donate themselves" as many shoppers are "struggling to put food on the table".

“We are in one of the worst cost-of-living crises in Australian history, and Woolworths, a multi-billion dollar company, is currently being accused of price hiking during the crisis", the shopper recently fumed on social media.

"But they have the audacity to ask us to donate to those suffering from the cost-of-living crisis, instead of lowering their prices to be affordable or donating themselves."

The shopper admitted to wanting to help those in need, but shared they were one of millions of Aussies who had to rethink the way they approached their Christmas shopping as soaring grocery prices continue hurting household budgets.

"I'm absolutely disgusted that they are asking us to buy stuff from their store and donate it instead when they have the audacity to charge $7 for 2kg of potatoes or $7.50 for 4kg of potatoes," the shopper continued in the post on Reddit.

Despite many people sympathising with the shopper’s post, one commenter pointed out that Woolworths has vowed to match all donations from the public to OzHarvest.

"Until the 26th December, Woolworths will match your donations to OzHarvest to help provide even more meals to people who need it most this Christmas," it says. "Every 50 cents donated supports OzHarvest to deliver the equivalent of one nutritious meal from our surplus fresh food.”

"These funds support the cost of drivers, vans, warehouses, fridges, freezers and more. All helping to ensure that as much fresh, healthy surplus food can get to as many Australians in need of food relief as possible".

Image credits: Getty Images / Reddit

“Our absolute worst nightmare”: Nine reporter reveals devastating family diagnosis

Channel Nine reporter Hayley Webb has shared how she and her brother Lachlan have been struck down with a terrifying terminal illness.

The siblings have spent their entire lives living with Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI) lying dormant in their bodies.

The devastating illness, which has already claimed the lives of three aunts and uncles as well as their mother, will eventually leave the siblings unable to ever fall asleep again.

From there, symptoms progress to, but are not limited to, the inability to walk, loss of sight and speech and an eventual total shutdown of the body's ability to keep itself alive.

Hayley and Lachie first discovered they had the gene in 2016, and decided to take part in a study of the disease in California to end the generational curse of the genetic disorder.

But tragically, earlier this year, Lachlan began having symptoms at just 35 years old, and discovered his condition had rapidly worsened.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; "The thought of not having him around is just too much to bear."

Sitting in front of the pair, Hayley's heartbreaking admission brought Karl to tears.

"I don't think I've ever done a story like this, and certainly never met anybody like you two in my life," the Today host said.

With Lachie being officially diagnosed with the disease so young, Hayley has started to wonder about her own mortality.

The disease has an average duration of 18 months, ultimately leading to death, making the siblings worry about their families and their futures.

“It's just, like, been such a stark reality check that it's not a guarantee that we're gonna get to 60, it's not a guarantee we'll make it to 50,” she said.

“I've got a three-and-a-half year-old and a baby on the way who I desperately want to see grow up.”

While no doctor or test can predict how long Lachie has - his wife Claire and Hayley, who is expecting, have done something extraordinary, taking their family's fate into their own hands.

"We both underwent IVF and through that process we were able to conceive children who won't have the gene, so the family curse stops here," Hayley said.

"Absolutely the worst": Chrissie Swan fires up on Sam Newman

Chrissie Swan has opened up on the most challenging celebrity she had to deal with during her career.

The radio personality revealed that her interview with former AFL footballer Sam Newman was one of the worst encounters she had on the local front.

“He was hands down the worst experience I’ve had in the media,” she said on her program The Chrissie Swan Show, on Monday afternoon.

Anchor Jack Charles recalled that the interview was so bad that Swan had to walk out of their Melbourne studio.

“I remember you walking out of the studio, out of the station, and I was like where’s Swanny gone?” he said and added that “We couldn’t even air the audio.”

Swan replied that it was the most "terrible" experience she has had in her entire career.

“It was absolutely the worst by far. By far. It was terrible. It was a terrible, terrible situation and so unusual in my career to feel so attacked. It was terrible. Terrible.”

Before revealing that her interview with Newman was the worst experience she ever had, Swan also shared her disappointment after meeting her idols British rock band Duran Duran a few years ago.

She said that it "was an excruciating interview. And two of the members were really rude to me. I just left there feeling like nothing.”

To which Charles responded with the old adage, “Never meet your idols."

Swan agreed, but also added that it wasn't always the case.

“It is true, isn’t it? Well, it can be true, because I have met other idols like Lily Tomlin and Gina Davis and Debbie Harry and Sarah Jessica Parker. And they were all wonderful, but Duran Duran, they really belittled me and I just felt like a big loser.”"

The 49-year-old radio personality, added that the British rock band knew that she was a massive fan, which made the interaction “even more unkind."

Despite sharing how horrible some of these celebrity interviews made her feel, Swan also offered a sympathetic ear.

“You know, harking back to what I said earlier, people are going through things and you just don’t know what."

Images: Getty

"Absolute f***ing disaster": The Block presenter slams former contestants

Shelley Craft has ripped into two former contestants of The Block, saying the team was an "absolute f***ing disaster".

The Block presenter was chatting candidly about the formula of the show on Hit radio show Breakfast with Maz & Matty, where she described what she thought was the ultimate pairing for a team to partake in the renovation show.

Shelley was asked about the calibre of contestants on the upcoming season, admitting that the show’s producers generally cast for “characters,” rather than previous experience.

“I always thought the best team would be an accountant and an HR manager, because you have to be able to manage your money and manage your trades,” she said, revealing her own personal pick for a successful team.

“[But] we sort of had that last year and it was an absolute f***ing disaster. That was the worst team that there is, it’s not the recipe!” she continued, to laughter from the radio hosts.

“We’re really after great people that are happy to give it everything they’ve got, and we’ve got five teams this year who are ready to give it a red hot crack.”

The “disaster” Craft is referring to is last year’s most controversial couple, lawyer-turned actor Sharon and her accountant husband Ankur, who copped a fierce backlash from viewers over their apparent negative attitudes while filming The Block.

The couple repeatedly clashed with their builders, foremen Keith and Dan and host Scott Cam, and also declared on camera numerous times that they wished they’d never signed up to do the show.

The couple even had their finances frozen by Scott Cam due to their apparent inability to manage their budget during the intense renovation project.

Sharon and Ankur later said they felt “ambushed” and were upset at how they’d been portrayed on the show, prompting Cam to later say in an interview that he thought the couple had “made [the experience] harder” on themselves than it needed to be.
