Ellen DeGeneres reveals triple health diagnosis

Ellen DeGeneres has revealed that she has been diagnosed with osteoporosis, OCD and ADHD.

The American comedian spoke candidly about her health in her latest Netflix special, For Your Approval, which marks her comeback after receiving backlash over toxic workplace allegations.

DeGeneres revealed that she only received the diagnosis after she left her long-running daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres show.

The star learned she has “full on osteoporosis” - a disease that causes bones to become weak and more susceptible to fractures - after she took a “stupid bone density test.”

“I don’t even know how I’m standing up right now,” DeGeneres said.

“I’m like a human sandcastle. I could disintegrate in the shower.”

Not only does she have osteoporosis, she said she was also diagnosed with arthritis.

“I had excruciating pain one day and I thought I tore a ligament or something and I got an MRI and they said, ‘No, it’s just arthritis.’ I said, ‘How did I get that?’ And he said, ‘Oh it just happens at your age,’” she recalled.

She also explained that after the backlash and "hatred" she received from fans following claims that she created a work environment that bred "racism, fear and intimidation", she started going to therapy as it took a toll on her mental health.

That was when she learned she had OCD and ADHD.

“I was in therapy for a while trying to deal with all the hatred that was coming at me,” she shared. “And you know, it was not a common situation for a therapist to deal with.”

She continued, “I may have OCD because a therapist said so and I said, ‘Yes I am very organised,’ because I thought that was the O. I didn’t know what OCD was.”

“I was raised in a religion, Christian Science, that doesn’t acknowledge diseases or disorders,” she explained. “So when I was growing up, nobody talked about anything. There was no discussion of anything.”

Despite the circumstances, DeGeneres tried to lighten the mood saying: “My ADD makes it really hard to sit down and focus on anything at all.

"I mean, do you know how hard it was for me to put this together? Of course you don’t. Why would I ask that question? It’s hard for me to focus,” she told a laughing crowd.

“So, I have ADD, I have OCD, I’m losing my memory. But I think I’m well-adjusted, because I obsess on things, but then I don’t have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place. So, it takes me all the way around to being well adjusted, I think.”

She also revealed her thoughts on getting cancelled, telling the audience: “We have all these unwritten rules based on gender about acceptable behaviour. If we don’t follow those rules, it makes people uncomfortable. And if people are uncomfortable, there are consequences.”

But regardless, she said it all worked out for the better.

“I’m happy not being a boss or a brand or a billboard, just a person."

Images: Instagram

Ellen DeGeneres’ surprise wedding news

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have fallen in love all over again while renewing their vows to each other at home in California.

Ellen, best known for her self-titled talk show, was left speechless when her wife pulled off the surprise of the year - a vow renewal ceremony at her own birthday party.

The couple were married in 2008 at their Beverly Hills home, with a small number of guests in attendance. It was a similar affair this time around, albeit with a few more familiar faces - the likes of Kris Jenner, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle were there to celebrate.

While a full length video was posted to Ellen’s YouTube account, highlights of the day were shared to her Instagram account.

“Portia surprised me at her birthday party by renewing our vows,” she captioned the post, “thank you @KrisJenner for officiating and @BrandiCarlile for performing, and Portia for being the greatest gift to me, even on your birthday.”

The clips featured Portia in a wedding dress (the same one she wore to their 2008 wedding), walking through their friends and family to reach Ellen with a bouquet of white roses.

Portia led Ellen to the front of the room, where they were joined by their friend and reality TV star Kris Jenner.

“Welcome to Portia’s birthday party,” Kris opened, “and to the newest home of one of my favourite couples, two of my BFs, and the record holders for the most homes ever purchased in one city, ever.”

“These two are couple goals, who continue to amaze me with how cute they are together. A match made in heaven. Two peas in a pod,” she went on, “their love and commitment to one another is amazing, and it makes me so happy that they have each other to love and cherish and grow old with."

Kris also took to Ellen’s comment section to share her love for them, writing there that it was the “best day ever!!! What an honour to be there for two of my BFF’s who I adore and who love each other so much!”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Ellen DeGeneres (@ellendegeneres)

Love was certainly the theme of the day, and carried through every word of Portia’s prepared vows for Ellen.

"Surprise," she began, to laughter from their delighted guests. "You don't have to say anything at all, but when I was thinking about what would make my birthday really special, apart from being with family and friends, it was reminding you that you're the most important thing in the world to me in front of family and friends.

“I was thinking about my life, my accomplishments, as you do with a big birthday, and it all just kept leading back to you, and I just thought, 'What greater accomplishment could I ever, ever, ever have in my life than being loved by someone who is so magnificent, by someone as incredible as you?’

“Also I feel like we're on a new journey - this is a new chapter. After 24 houses in 18 years, this is our first home. This is it, and we're settling down, finally, and we're planting roots, and we're taking better care of ourselves and each other than ever before. And I'm just so excited about the future, where we just get to do whatever the hell we want for the rest of our lives.

“On our wedding day in 2008, I quoted Walt Whitman. And I said that it is a great thing to be loved, but it is profound to be understood. And back then, after knowing each other for four years I thought we understood each other, but now 14 years later, I can truly say we understand each other, we accept each other. And how lucky am I to be with somebody who accepts me for exactly who I am, who loves me for exactly who I am?

“It's you. It always has been. You cheer me up when I'm down. You make me feel seen. You make me feel safe, cherished, loved. I love you. I will always, always, love you. I'm so honoured to be your wife."

The wives then shared a kiss to the cheers and celebration of their guests.

“I just adore you," an emotional Ellen finally managed, despite her wife’s assurance that she didn’t have to say anything. "I love you and I would not be on this earth without you. You save me every day. Thank you for saving me every day. I'm the lucky one."

Image: YouTube

Ellen devastated after death of beloved show's DJ

Stephen "tWitch" Boss has died at the age of 40.

The entertainer is most commonly known for his role as the DJ on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he has been a staple since 2014.

His death was announced by his wife of nine years Allison Holker just days after marking their wedding anniversary, as she shared a touching statement about his lasting legacy.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” she said in a statement received by The Post.

“Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Ellen DeGeneres was among the first to pay tribute to her friend and colleagues, sharing a photo of the two in an emotional embrace.

She wrote, “I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him."

"Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children — Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”

When Allison Holker discovered her husband has left home without his car, she reportedly ran frantically into an LAPD station, saying the behaviour was unlike him, according to law enforcement sources.

Police later got a call about an incident at an LA hotel, where they found Boss.

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” Holker continued in her statement.

“I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honour his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.

“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

Ellen DeGeneres’ frosty response to ex’s car crash

Ellen DeGeneres has commented on ex Anne Heche’s horrifying incident which has landed her in a coma.

The 53-year-old actress was reportedly driving at an extraordinary 140km/h when she crashed her Mini Cooper into a house in Los Angeles.

Her car burst into flames and Anne was pulled out, suffering severe burns and has since ended up in a coma.

Anne’s ex, talk show legend Ellen, was inquired about the incident and asked if she has spoken to her.

“No, I have not. We’re not in touch with each other, so I wouldn’t know,” she responded, news.com.au reported.

Ellen was then asked if she had any well wishes for her former partner to which she just responded with a, “Sure, I don’t want anyone to be hurt”.

The crash is currently being investigated by the LAPD who have confirmed that if Anne is found to have been drunk she would face significant charges.

"If found intoxicated, [Heche] could be charged with misdemeanour DUI hit and run. No arrests have been made so far,” a representative said.

Anne’s representative has confirmed that she is in an “extreme critical condition”.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” her representative said.

“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Anne and Ellen made their relationship public on the red carpet for the movie premiere of Volcanoes back in 1997.

However, Anne was told she would lose her contract if she appeared with Ellen, who was also advised to appear alone.

The pair did not adhere to what they were asked to do and instead showed up on the red carpet but were reportedly kicked out before the movie ended.

Their relationship lasted three-and-a-half years before they broke it off and within hours, Anne was spotted at a stranger's house which saw the police called.

She also had a public breakdown amid the break-up.

Images: Getty

Ellen’s surprise confession

Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she will end her talk show after almost 20 years on air.

The 64-year-old announced in May last year that she would end her show after her reputation took a hit following reports of pay reduction, racism and intimidation toward crew members.

On Thursday, she surprised guests that that would be the last episode to air before sharing how different her first episode was 19 years ago until today.

“Twenty years ago, when we were trying to sell the show, no one thought that this would work. Not because it was a different kind of show, but because I was different," she said.

"When we started this show, I couldn't say 'gay' on the show. I was not allowed to say 'gay.' I said it at home a lot. 'What are we having for gay breakfast?'"

"We couldn't say 'gay.' I couldn't say 'we,' because that implied that I was with someone.

"I sure couldn't say 'wife,' and that's because it wasn't legal for gay people to get married, and now I say 'wife' all the time.

"Twenty-five years ago, they cancelled my sitcom because they didn't want a lesbian to be in primetime once a week. I said, 'Okay, then I'll be on daytime every day. How about that?'"

Ellen then asked her DJ, Stephen Boss aka tWitch, for one final dance where the pair boogied in between the audience to Best of My Love by The Emotions.

The host was also joined by Friends star Jennifer Aniston, singer Billie Eilish and Pink who shared memories from their first show.

Ellen then ended the show by thanking her camera crew and audience saying that she hoped she inspired them through her shows.

"If I've done anything in the past 19 years, I hope I've inspired you to be yourself. Your true, authentic self,” she said.

“And if someone is brave enough to tell you who they are, be brave enough to support them, even if you don't understand. They're showing you who they are and that is the biggest gift anybody can ever give you.

“And by opening your heart and your mind, you're gonna be that much more compassionate. And compassion is what makes the world a better place.

“Thank you so much for being on this journey with me. I feel the love and I send it back to you. Bye."

Image: YouTube

Meghan Markle makes rare TV appearance on The Ellen Show

Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance on The Ellen Show, sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres in her first TV interview since her famous interview with Oprah earlier this year.

In a teaser shared by Ellen on Wednesday, Meghan talked about the early days of her acting career, when she would regularly visit the Warner Brothers lot, where Ellen’s show is filmed, to audition. Ellen said to Meghan, “You said the last talk show you did was like, I don’t know, another decade ago, but you used to come to this lot to audition all the time.”

Meghan recalled those early days, saying, “Oh my gosh, completely! I would park at gate three and then I would scoot on over, and what was so nice is the security guards would always say, ‘Break a leg, we hope you get it!’” she said. “So to drive in today was very different.”

A lot has changed since the last time Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was on the Warner Brothers lot. Don’t miss the rest of our interview tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/pBihJLf0um
— Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) November 17, 2021

She also talked about the car she used to drive to auditions, describing it as having “a life of its own”. She explained, “I had this very, very old Ford Explorer Sport, and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door.

“So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro.”

Meghan’s appearance on The Ellen Show also marks her first interview since giving birth to daughter Lilibet in June. Ellen and Meghan have been friends for years, after meeting at an LA dog shelter where Ellen convinced the actress to adopt her first dog, Bogart.

Meghan’s appearance on the show is part of the long-running show’s 19th and final season, following continued claims of bullying and a toxic workplace.

In 2019, Ellen revealed to her audience that she and wife Portia de Rossi had visited Prince Harry and Meghan at their home at the time, Frogmore Cottage, and met their son Archie. She said of the couple, “I see them get attacked and it’s not fair. They are two of the most down-to-earth, compassionate people, and they’re doing so much good for the world.”

Awkward Ellen’s uncomfortable Oprah Winfrey interview

Following the announcement that Ellen DeGeneres will quit her talk show after 18 months of scandal, a question from Oprah Winfrey left her speechless.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres show, Oprah mostly avoided bombshell questions, instead asking questions like “How are you actually feeling? Her ratings have been in the toilet for a long time now. Her show has not been fun, it has not been interesting, and she’s not really ‘stepping down’ - the viewers fired her,” she said.

When asked what she thought DeGeneres should do after her show comes to an end, Muskat said her former employer should “work on a farm with all of the animals and the pets and the dogs and the cows and the pigs because she can relate to animals far more than she does with people.”

Following on from Ellen’ DeGeneres’ announcement that she will be ending her talk show after almost two decades, Richard Wilkins shared his experience working with her and watching her career grow over the years.

Commenting on the “swag of accolades” The Ellen DeGeneres Show has brought in - including three Emmys, 20 People’s Choice Awards, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom - Wilkins says the effort was “not bad for a gal from Louisiana, who found comedy as a way to escape complicated teen years”.

Wilkins goes on to describe the first time he interviewed the star about “a decade or so ago”.

“It was the coldest studio I’ve ever been in - figuratively and literally. It wasn’t just the temperature, which was freezing. I couldn’t work out whether it was to counteract the heat generated by the huge screens with the lighting, or just to keep everyone on their toes. But, man, it was cold,” he said.

“It was the weirdest of interviews,” he recalled. “Immediately after the credits rolled and the hysterical applause, a voiceover guy announced, ‘Please stay seated. Ellen’s going to be interviewed by Richard Wilkins from Australia. Come down, Richard - you’re on.”

Wilkins admits that the interview “was quite intimidating” as audiences watched Ellen “being grilled mercilessly by some bloke they’d never heard of before.”

“And I think it’s fair to say Ellen likes asking questions more than she likes answering them.”

As he recounted the two other moments he was face-to-face with the talk-show queen, Wilkins shared his shock over the claims surrounding the show but that he was “not really surprised”.

“She clearly knows what she wants and she doesn’t suffer fools badly,” he said. “And I imagine she was pretty tough on her staff. In a situation like that, I would assume where there’s smoke, there’s certainly a bit of fire about.”

Despite the hit in popularity due to the controversies and additional challenges from the pandemic, Wilkins said he “will be sad to see Ellen disappear from the screen” and that she deserved praise for making the show a success for so long.

But, he found it “kind of strange” that she would be looking for “a new challenge” when “making tomorrow’s show better than today’s show would be an ongoing challenge.”

Either way, he remarked that the end of the show will mark “the end of an era”.

“I wonder what we'll be doing at midday from now on when Ellen leaves a big hole in Nine's telecast schedule in a year's time. Congratulations to Ellen — we'll be interested to see what she comes up with next,” he concluded.

Her show has not been fun, it has not been interesting, and she’s not really ‘stepping down’ - the viewers fired her.”

Muskat said she was one of the show's first hires back in 2003, claiming that Ellen loved "kissing ass with celebrities" and "despised" the non-celebrity human interest guests that Muskat provided.

"She’s not really stepping down, the viewers fired her"

Former The Ellen DeGeneres Show Producer @HeddaMuskat delivers a fiery spray against the comedian after she announced the end of her long-running talk show. pic.twitter.com/Co7wOUAkkj
— Sunrise (@sunriseon7) May 12, 2021

“She really was not in a position to interview real people because she really couldn’t carry a conversation with them,” she said.

“This is not ‘bah humbug’ on my end, because I just did my job and went home, but I feel that for the guests it was bad goodwill for them. Ellen DeGeneres moves in with Courtney Cox

Courtney Cox has a new A-lister roommate.

Ellen DeGeneres revealed she has been staying with the former Friends star as she had recently sold her Beverly Hills home.

She also took a moment to dispel any marriage problems with wife Portia de Rossi.

“I’m not having marital troubles,” the talk show host explained on Ellen.

“I’m not living with Courtenay Cox because I’m kicked out of my house.”

Cox says while she is happy to have her friend bunking with her, she did say Ellen is not much of a respectful house guest.

“You’re my style guru, so I was nervous about you staying there, being that I haven’t redone it. I haven’t been there in a year,” Cox said.

“I had it cleaned. I moved everything off of the right side of the bathroom, so you’d have your space in the drawers. I was just really ready for you.”

Cox revealed she sent her assistant over to the home to make sure DeGeneres had settled nicely, only to hear she done more than that.

“And all of the sudden it was like, ‘Wait a minute. Ellen’s toothbrush is on my side!’ I had her open the drawer and I was like, ‘Well, where’s my makeup?’” Cox recalled.

“So essentially you’re a terrible roommate. You took over my side and your side.”

“That was Portia who took over your side,” DeGeneres joked in defence.

“I only have one side. She happened to be there one night.”
