Kamahl lifts the lid on "disrespectful" Hey Hey, It's Saturday feud

Kamahl has lifted the lid on his many years as a regular co-host on Hey Hey, It's Saturday, calling out the show's "disrespectful" actions.

To celebrate his 90th birthday, Kamahl has shared the highs and lows of his career in his newly-released biography, Kamahl: The Triumph of Hope.

In the book, the musician and TV presenter criticised the popular Australian variety show for constantly using him as the butt of many jokes, despite his popularity on the program.

Hey Hey stopped airing in 1999, but in 2021, Channel 7 showcased a special episode of the show to celebrate its 50 year anniversary.

Despite being a regular fixture on the show for many years, Kamahl wasn't invited to participate, even though he said at the time he would've gladly joined in the celebrations if they had asked.

Instead of Kamahl appearing in person, they acknowledged his many years on the show with a split-second image amongst a montage of pictures of hundreds of other artists who had appeared on the show during its history.

Kamahl wrote in his book that while the snub was ungracious, it was consistent with a lot of the treatment he received on the program over the years, so it wasn't unexpected.

Kamahl said, “You know, I have never been capable of being disrespectful, so when on the receiving end of such treatment, it genuinely confuses me. However, the resurrection of the show in the 50th Anniversary special just made me reflect once again on some of the things that had involved me on the show over the years. A number stood out for all the wrong reasons."

“It was obvious that they had got me on the show as some kind of comic foil. It was hardly subtle nor clever, but it appealed to a segment of their audience, so they milked it for all it was worth. I thought that by taking such treatment in my stride in good grace may show that I could rise above it all by not overreacting."

“I thought that by going along with it, by being a good sport, the audience may understand that we can laugh at ourselves and that we aren’t all that different. I now realise that in doing so I may have been seen to be supportive of such treatment, which is wrong."

“When the 50th Anniversary special aired and it was being lauded by all and sundry within the business, I felt compelled to seek an answer as to why my career milestone was treated with such disdain. I wrote an open letter to Daryl Somers so that he could be given an opportunity to publicly explain his actions.”

The open letter to Somers, that was published on many news sites in the days after the anniversary special aired, Kamahl stated, “In a week where you are deservedly receiving such plaudits for your career milestone, I am left wondering why when you had the opportunity to acknowledge mine you chose not to.”

Kamahl's open letter remained unanswered.

Image credits: Getty Images / New Holland Publishers

Bride sparks feud for banning her niece from her big day

A bride-to-be has sparked a feud for deciding to ban her sister’s “loud and distracting” toddler from her wedding ceremony, with the bride asking social media users for advice.

The bride was only weeks away from her intimate destination wedding, which included a guest list of only a few friends and close family.

After being met with a difficult decision, the bride took to Reddit to share how a massive family feud had erupted in the weeks before the big day.

“My sister is bringing her one-year-old toddler. The child is more than welcome — she’s part of the family and we want her there as part of the day,” she began.

“However, as she’s still very young (and very loud at times), I’ve asked that somebody takes her out during the ceremony if she’s being distracting, shouting and babbling loudly.”

“I know that this will probably happen as she’s constantly chatting loudly and is never quiet.”

“But it’s only for half an hour and she can be as loud as she likes for the rest of the day.”

“I just want everybody to be able to focus on the ceremony and I don’t want the distraction.”

The bride said she was worried about sounding selfish, but then admitted that she was allowed to be selfish on her big day, and wanted all eyes on her and the groom.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy them and, to be honest, we want the guests’ attention focused on us,” she said.

However, after the bride told her sister of the plans, things didn’t go down well.

“My sister has told me I’m being an a****** for ‘excluding’ my niece from the ceremony and therefore by default ‘excluding’ my brother-in-law who will be the one to take her out,” the bride said.

“She says that I’m asking him and the one-year-old to go all that way just for the evening meal as they will miss the ceremony and that the toddler will most likely miss that too as it will be after bedtime.”

“I’ve told her that there’s a whole afternoon of relaxing things going on — photos, cake, a little walk outside and late lunch that they will be part of but apparently she’s still really annoyed with me.”

The bride says her sister is now “threatening” to attend the wedding alone, leaving her partner and their daughter at home.

“We’ve called her bluff and said if that’s what she wants to do then we understand,” she said.

“To be honest, she’s p***ing us off so much that we’d be fine with all three of them not coming at this point.”

“I don’t think that I’m asking anything unreasonable.”

“All I want is a peaceful, relaxed ceremony where we can all focus on what’s going on without a toddler babbling away.

“Also, to be honest, even if this WAS an unreasonable ask, surely as it’s my wedding day then it’s up to me? Isn’t it the one day of my life when I can do literally anything I want?”

The post was quickly met with hundreds of comments, with most people flocking to the bride’s defence.

One person wrote, “This is basic event etiquette, but it seems like sis cannot be relied on to follow basic etiquette - or even asked to do so without herself acting like a toddler.”

Another suggested: “Removing a disruptive baby from a formal event would be normal etiquette, but if you specifically had to ask in advance, I’ll guess she’s got a history of not doing so.”

“Your wedding, your rules. You could have gone completely child-free, all you asked was for the common courtesy of taking her outside if she got noisy.”

Harry Connick Jnr finally comes clean on feud with Kyle

Kyle Sandilands and Harry Connick Jr. have hashed out their rumoured ongoing feud, calling a truce live on air.

The radio shock jock welcomed the singer on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday morning to discuss his upcoming Australian tour, when Sandilands brought up their long-running beef.

“You know what I admire about Harry, and I’ve watched Harry too,” he told co-host Jackie O when Connick Jr. was on the line.

“When you think some doesn't like you, you watch them, you, over-analyse them and you start getting in your head, ‘I wonder why he doesn’t like me?’”

Kyle then discussed some lessons he had learned from Harry during their time on Australian Idol together, “What I do know about Harry, and he told the Idol contestants this last year, is read the room. You’ve got to perform to whoever is there, whether it’s an auditorium or it’s to three people on a TV show.”

Rather than welcoming the compliment, Connick Jr. thought Sandilands was being sarcastic and "tricky" by stirring the pot.

“I see how tricky you are, slipping in there that I don’t like you,” the star said on air. “I don’t know where you got that from. I do like you very much and I really enjoyed our time together. So I see you trying to flip that in there, but you’re not gonna get that past me, pal.”

Henderson said Sandilands may have been “paranoid”, while he agreed he “misread” the situation.

“So this whole time, I should’ve maybe asked,” he told Connick Jr, who replied: “I love my wife and kids, and I’ve been very lucky in may career. Life is too short for any kind of … I just love life. So when you say I don’t like you, I’m not sure where that comes from, but for the record, I do like you very much and so everything is cool from my end.”

While he accepted the explanation, Sandilands also remained slightly sceptical because Connick Jr “is a very good actor” after all, he said.

“But Kyle the thing about actors is we don’t lie – we tell the truth,” replied Connick Jr.

“You gotta tell the truth in the scene because, if you’re lying, you’re not being true to your character.”

Sandilands then urged listeners to forget “everything I’ve ever said about Harry”.

Image credits: KIIS FM / Getty Images

"It's still there": Karl Stefanovic breaks silence on feud with Michael Clarke

Karl Stefanovic has broken his silence on the status of his friendship with Michael Clarke, almost one year after their infamous brawl made headlines.

In December last year while on holiday in Noosa, the Today host and the former Aussie cricketer came to blows as Clarke was at the centre of a blazing row with his ex-girlfriend Jade Yarbrough and her brother-in-law Stefanovic in a public park.

The expletive-ridden fight made headlines, with both men keeping relatively quiet about what eventuated from the argument.

Now, Stefanovic has broken his silence on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, as Kyle Sandilands asked what the status of their friendship was.

"Have you reconciled with Michael Clarke yet, your personal self, regardless of the sisters [Jade and Jasmine Yarbrough]?" Kyle asked Karl live on air.

"Kyle, it's like a sticker. You rip it off but it's still there," Karl said, revealing peace had not yet been brokered between the pair.

"There's still a bit of stick," Jackie O said, and Karl confirmed she was correct.

"Is that like one of those stickers they put on your car when you're parked in a No Standing spot and you can't get that bastard off, when you try to pick away?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah. That is really, really deep," Karl agreed with a laugh.

Karl's admission comes just weeks after Michael Clarke told his side of the story on A Current Affair for the first time.

In the interview with Ally Langdon, Clarke began by acknowledging the complexities of handling personal matters in the public eye.

He explained, "A lot of people are involved, you know, there's other families, there's friends. I think it's always important that you do your best to try and respect that as well."

While dodging questions about the specifics of the argument, Clarke admitted to making mistakes, saying, "I've made, ah, I've made some mistakes, I haven't made mistakes. “I’ll quit”: Steve Price’s fairway feud with Dan Andrews

Steve Price, the Sky News shock jock and host of The Project, has threatened a full-scale membership mutiny of his hallowed Portsea Golf Club, turning Victoria's Mornington Peninsula into the stage for a golf-centric feud that looks set to make more divots than a toddler with a sand wedge.

Price has vowed to unleash the ultimate golf club warfare if former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews dares to follow through on his ambition to become a member of his beloved club.

Price declared on Sky News Australia that if Andrews is welcomed into the exclusive golfing enclave, he would take his membership and tear it into more pieces than a scorecard after a disastrous round.

“This is the premier who stopped us playing golf for two years during Covid,” Price exclaimed in much the same way one would (1 wood? too much) if Andrews personally walked up and confiscated his seven-iron. “No way should that man come into the golf club.”

Former pro golfer Mark Allen joined the chorus of disapproval, claiming that other golf clubs along the Mornington Peninsula were contemplating a similar blockade against Andrews.

The uproar stems from the dark days of Covid when golfers in certain parts of the Mornington Peninsula were banned from fairways and greens, as well as a specific restriction that allowed certain parts of the peninsula to carry on playing, while others areas were banned altogether. Andrews, in his role as the "lockdown czar", earned the ire of golf enthusiasts who found solace only on the "wrong" side of the bay.

“Remember one side of the peninsula they were able to play and get around, the other side of the peninsula, they were not allowed to play,” explained Allen.

In a stunning display of commitment to the cause, golf clubs were allowed to reopen in September 2021, but toilets remained off-limits, prompting golf enthusiasts to question whether they were being punked by an elaborate Candid Camera-style golf course edition.

Andrews, who recently announced his retirement from politics, now plans to spend more time with his family and on the golf course. However, the threat of being ostracised from the Peninsula's golfing elite looms large, like a shadow on the putting green.

As the turf wars intensify, it's clear that the Mornington Peninsula is not just a geographical location; it's a battlefield, where the clash of golfing ideologies may rival the intensity of a Ryder Cup final day. Will Andrews dare to follow through on his membership application, knowing the potential fallout? Will Price stick to his membership-ripping threat, or will he ultimately decide that a day on the green is more important than a political greenhorn?

In this gripping saga of fairways and fracas, the only certainty is that the Mornington Peninsula has become ground zero for a golfing soap opera that will have enthusiasts on the edge of their golf carts, eagerly awaiting the next putt-plot twist.

Images: Sky News

"This guy hates my guts and I hate his": Manu Feildel spills on his feud with Colin Fassnidge

Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge have opened up about their long-running feud that began when the pair started working together on My Kitchen Rules.

On Wednesday night's episode of the popular cooking show, Manu revealed to the contestants how the judges "hated" each other's "guts" when they started filming the show together in 2014.

Their feud began when Colin accused Manu of "selling out" by joining the TV show.

Manu opened up about their previous dislike for one another, after contestants Amber and Mel explained that the name of their restaurant, Salty Secrets, was meant to encourage their fellow MKR contestants to share little-known facts about themselves.

“Do you want to hear about salty secrets from us?” Manu asked the table.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by MKR (@mykitchenrules)

“The salty secret is Colin and I started on the wrong foot. The guy hates my guts and I hate his guts’,” Manu said.

Colin added. “So day one of MKR, I turn up and they’re like ‘Have you met Manu?’ And I was like, ‘S***’."

“We did the season. It was a tough learning curve for me.”

Manu explained that it wasn't until the end of the first episode that they resolved their differences and became friends.

“So we finished the show, I went into my room, he went into his,” he said.

“And suddenly I heard [knocks on table], open my room and he went ‘I would like to apologise for being an a***hole.’

“And we’ve been good friends ever since!”

Shaynna Blaze breaks her silence on feud with Scott Cam

Shaynna Blaze has finally addressed the allegations of a long-running feud with Scott Cam on the set of The Block.

For several years, there have been rumours that the judge and the host of the renovation show were butting heads on set, resulting in a seemingly permanent rift between them.

However, chatting to Daily Mail Australia at Channel Nine's 2024 Upfronts event on Wednesday, the 60-year-old interior designer denied there was ongoing beef between the two.

"Oh God, no, there's nothing going on between me and Scotty," she explained.

"There's no bad blood. People just make stuff up. It happens every year..."

When questioned about why such rumours about a feud had surfaced, Blaze suspected it might just be a tactic to keep the audience hooked, stirring the pot to give the ratings a nudge northward.

Shaynna was then asked what she thought about Scott taking a subtle swipe at her during a recent radio interview, she explained it's "all a bit of fun" and she hasn't taken any passing comments personally.

Blaze's clarification of the rumours comes just weeks after an anonymous source claimed she was at her wits end with Cam's unnecessary remarks.

"He's turning the set into a pressure cooker, making things a lot more strained than they need to be," a source told Daily Mail Australia in August.

"She is really getting sick of his pointless comments. They've all got a job to do and these comments are just making things more awkward and tense than it has to be."

Scotty infamously called Shaynna a b***h on national television back in 2017 after what he perceived as "unfair scoring" on the renovation show, in what many believed to be the start of their so-called feud.

Andrew Johns quits radio over on-air family feud

Andrew and Matthew Johns are familiar faces in the world of NRL, and while they may have achieved legendary - or ‘Immortal’, in Andrew’s case - status in their sport, their public feuds have become a significant contributor towards their wider fame over the years.

As recently as May 2023, the Johns brothers had an on-air disagreement over the year’s State of Origin series, in which each of them backed an opposing team.

Joey is a staunch supporter of the NSW Blues side - and was a former player for the squad, regarded by many as one of the game’s best - and took issue with his brother’s praise and admiration for the QLD Maroons, as well as Matthew’s support for the side’s coach, Billy Slater.

Matthew ‘Matty’ Johns set things off when he noted that Queensland were coming prepared, and when Andrew asked if that meant New South Wales didn’t, Matty confirmed it.

“Mate I’m sick of you rapping Queensland, that’s what I’m sick of,” Andrew then declared.

Their spat continued from there, with Andrew going on to share that he “couldn’t give a s**t. I don’t even look at Queensland”.

But he wasn’t done there, concluding his take when he told his brother, “you’re blowing smoke up their backsides, I couldn’t care about Queensland.

“He [Matty] said they’re easy to admire - they’re the enemy,” he said, before informing their audience, and co-host Andrew Webster, that the two had grown up “hating” the Maroons together.

And now, according to Fox Sports, Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns has reportedly stepped down from his position at SEN’s Morning Glory with Matty Johns for the rest of the year in the wake of the argument.

Additionally, the head of SEN Craig Hutchison had reportedly tried to keep the peace between them by suggesting that he’d take the two out for a lunch to clear the air, once the 2023 State of Origin series had wrapped up.

It has even been reported that Andrew and Matty haven’t spoken since the on-air incident, with Matthew revealing that Andrew was “off me” after making his own return to the show.

Meanwhile, Hutchison - who is also the host of Nine’s Footy Classified - had more to add on the matter, and the likelihood of mending the rift and getting Andrew back on air with them.

“We love Joey and we love Matt,” he began. “They’ve been a fantastic part of SEN 1170 on Friday mornings.

“We respect Joey’s wishes to concentrate on Origin at the moment. We understand he’s got a fair bit on his plate. And I probably underestimated how worked up he is.

“We look forward to sitting down with him after Origin and welcoming him back with open arms. I’ll get them both together for a bite to eat and go from there.”

Images: Getty

Samantha Armytage has responded to the clickbait articles claiming that there is a “feud” between her and former Sunrise co-host David Koch after her noticeable absence at his farewell lunch.

The Channel 7 star took to Instagram to respond to a headline that originally ran in the Daily Mail, which read: “Sure there’s no feud? Samantha Armytage noticeably skips David Koch’s farewell lunch as the departing Sunrise host is joined by Natalie Barr, Mel Doyle and Larry Emdur for the star-studded send-off”.

She posted a screenshot of the article which she called “nasty” and “wrong”.

“Rich & I had to attend a funeral yesterday after I appeared on Sunrise,” she explained, “I was invited to Kochie’s farewell lunch and had to politely decline.”

“Usually, I ignore the Daily Mail nonsense, (& I realise posting like this only gives them oxygen) but these multiple, daily attacks are absurd.

“I could have told them my plans, if only they’d asked 🤪 (not that it’s any of their business!) then perhaps they wouldn’t have to make things up. Kochie addresses feud rumours with Sam Armytage

David Koch has addressed the rumours of a falling out with his former Sunrise co-host, Sam Armytage for the first time.

Kochie responded to the rumours while appearing as a guest on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday morning, after the radio hosts grilled him about reports of their strained relationship.

The rumours spread after Armytage left Sunrise in March 2021 and hosted a lavish farewell lunch with some of her co-workers, with Kochie notably absent.

The next day he publicly claimed that he “didn’t know about it [happening].”

But on Wednesday, Kochie told Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O that he “didn’t think” he was on “bad terms” with Armytage.

“No, I don’t think … We didn’t end on bad terms,” he said.

When asked if Kochie had spoken to her ever since he evaded the question and answered with: “Don’t forget she very publicly said she wanted to get out of the media, and that scrutiny.”

“She sent me a really nice note on the announcement. As did Mel,” he added, revealing the well-wishes from his former co-hosts.

“I think I’m seeing Sam tonight at a function. I saw Mel at Fashion Week and sat next to her there.”

Armytage and Kochie hosted the breakfast show together for eight years between 2013–2021.

The rumours had started after there were relentless reports about Armytage being estranged from the Seven cast and crew.

Image: Getty

Julia Morris breaks silence on infamous I’m A Celeb feud

As this year’s season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has come to a close with the winner announced, host Julia Morris has opened up about the feud between Domenica Calarco and Kerri-Anne Kennerley that went viral online.

She appeared on the Will & Woody radio show hosted by Will McMahon and recently eliminated jungle-goer Woody Whitelaw, where she confirmed reports that Domenica called Kerri-Anne a “c**t” and said she was shocked things had escalated to that level.

“We have definitely never experienced a fight in front of us like that,” she explained.

“Oftentimes over the years if people are disgruntled they never bring it to trial, they never bring it in a space where there is Chris [Brown] and I. Because oftentimes, that is a live window into Australia and everybody knows that this is their moment to behave or to get their side of the story out, all that sort of stuff.

“The C-bomb absolutely came out, but honestly from where Chris and I were standing I could see both sides of the frustration.”

Morris also revealed why the full extent of the fight and the explicit language used didn’t make it on air.

“Look, it’s really weird with something like that,” she said. “We are a children’s show essentially, maybe not a kid’s show but it is a show that kids are watching with their families.

“We are never, ever, ever - even with bleeping - going to have that language go to air, ever. Why would we? It’s unacceptable, and Dom also accepts that it was unacceptable.”

She added, “In the heat of the moment I don’t think either women were articulating what they thought. So when they both came away they both definitely told a slightly different story, but I honestly think it was their truth, both of them.”

Morris' comments come after Dom opened up about the feud herself, and shortly after Ian "Dicko" Dickinson weighed in on KAK's abrupt exit.

“The thing about being in the jungle is that you have to be selfless,” she shared. “It's not just about you, you have to go in as a team player.

“And I think it just got to a point where I was frustrated that she wouldn't even try and I just was like, ‘Why are you even here bro?’. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't enjoy camp life and eat the food that we’re scavenging for and then come to trials and say you're not going to do it.”

Dom added that she knew the Australian public would consistently vote Kerri-Anne into trials for entertainment value, so she felt like it was important to call out her lack of effort.

“It happened the way it happened, and look, I'm not proud of the language that was used, but I still stand by everything and the messaging behind it because that's how I truly felt, and I still feel that way,” she remarked. “I would have just, I guess, articulated myself in a better way, but in the heat of the moment when you're starving and you've eaten soup for a few nights, it happens.”

"It was unbecoming": Domenica Calarco opens up on her feud with Kerri-Anne

Domenica Calarco has opened up on her fiery feud with Kerri-Anne Kennerley in the I'm a Celeb jungle.

The outspoken MAFS contestant was booted from the jungle in a shock elimination on Monday night, and has spoken out her now infamous argument with the TV presenter.

While in the jungle, Domenica and Kerri-Anne clashed over Kerri-Anne's refusal to participate in team challenges, prompting Dom to tell her she had “no respect” and that she’d never met anyone “so selfish”.

Fellow celeb Dicko also revealed after his exit last week that Calarco had also called Kennerley a “c**t” in scenes that didn’t make it to air.

Chatting exclusively with news.com.au, Calarco confirmed that she did drop the C-bomb, admitting that her language during the argument was “unacceptable”.

She also privately asked producers to pass on an apology to Kennerley, who abruptly quit the show after just three days after the clash.

“I haven’t spoken to her personally because I was in the jungle but I had passed on a message to her,” Calarco said.

“I have apologised for my language, it was unbecoming. I wouldn’t use that language again, now that I’m fed."

“But in the heat of the moment, I was struggling mentally. The sleep deprivation, the food deprivation, it gets to you. So for me, it was a culmination of all of that."

“I’m not proud of the language, but I stand by how I felt. And I still feel that [way].”

Despite the explosive fight, Domenica said she was shocked at Kerri-Anne's decision to leave the jungle.

“I kind of thought KAK had a little bit more in her. I didn’t think she’d throw in the towel,” she said, before adding one final blow, “[But] she did have to get back to Port Douglas on April 22 for a golf tournament, so …”

Calarco said Kennerley’s refusal to attempt any of the difficult challenges in order to “get her campmates fed” became the source of her frustrations, and ultimately led to her outburst.

“KAK was constantly getting voted in [to do challenges] because people wanted to see her push herself out of her comfort zone, but before we even headed in, she was adamant she wasn’t going to try,” she said.

“And I was terrified of the food challenges, I have a phobia of vomiting, it was my nightmare fuel situation, but I knew I was going to try because we needed to bring home stars, everyone was starving."

“You’ve got to be selfless, it’s not about you, it’s about feeding everyone. So it was that frustration of knowing we were gonna get nowhere with her.”

Now that Domenica has recovered from her deprivations of the jungle, she said she is open to a reconciliation with Kerri-Anne and a chance to apologise in person.

“[If I saw her] I’d say, ‘I’d love to get a Pinot gris with you, my shout,’” she said.

“Obviously she’s no longer in Africa but if the chance comes up I’d happily have a chat with her.”

Image credits: I'm a Celebrity... Family Feud contestant charged with wife’s murder

A former contestant on Family Feud has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion over the death of his estranged wife.

Timothy W. Bliefnick, 39, was charged on March 13 in relation to the suspicious death of his former spouse, Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, who was found dead in her home on February 23, according to court documents.

Bliefnick appeared on the game show in January 2020, and host Steve Harvey asked him, “What’s the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?”

“Honey, I love you, but, ‘said I do,’” he responded, prompting a mixed reaction from the audience.

“Not my mistake, not my mistake," he continued.

”I love my wife. I'm gonna get in trouble for that, aren't I?"

After Fox News Digital discovered the clip, Bliefnick’s attorney said, "It's a game show. A silly answer to a silly question on a silly show doesn't make one a murderer.”

KHQA-TV reported that Bliefnick and his wife were married in 2009, but at the time of her death the pair were undergoing divorce proceedings after having been separated for “several years”. After the couple separated they filed restraining orders against each other.

Bliefnick’s attorney Casey Schnack told E! News that he plans to plead not guilty at his next court hearing.

Kyle and Harry’s feud moves to the live stage

Kyle Sandilands and Harry Connick Jr have traded ‘respectful’ slights while offering feedback to one young contestant during live shows for Australian Idol.

The pair were unable to see eye-to-eye on how one singer should approach her next performance, after having taken the judging table by surprise with her position in the bottom four, and made no secret of their differing industry opinions.

“You could really throw a curveball,” Harry, who is halfway towards an EGOT [an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award winner], suggested to her. “And do something completely unproduced, completely stripped down, just bare.”

Kyle interrupted with a series of disagreeing noises, prompting Harry to ask, “you disagree?”

“No, that would stress– I love your musical knowledge, but the contest side panics me,” Kyle said, “I love what you’re saying to her, because as an artist that’s valuable. But in the contest - right at the end, ‘oh, let’s do something different’.”

“No, but there’s the thing,” Harry said, addressing the young singer on stage, “I’m telling you as objectively as I can, that’s what I would do. Because we’ve already seen this, every single week it’s like a ten, ten, ten, ten, ten.”

After fumbling over his words, Harry then stated “no, actually, I’m talking to Kyle. If Kyle understands.”

“This is what I understand,” Kyle shot back. “You show up in a Ferrari not a Datsun with some mag wheels on it.”

Immediately, Harry responded to tell everyone “therein lies the difference. I understand what Kyle says but I don’t think - respectfully - you understand what I’m saying.”

Kyle went on to try and convince the contestants that their best plan of attack would be not to try and impress Harry, but instead to consider the people watching the competition.

“This is a place where you sing to win,” he stated. “You win the record deal, then you go and you do your ‘airy fairy artist party stuff’.”

The 51-year-old radio host had previously opened up to Daily Mail Australia about their relationship, telling them, “it's not bulls***. There's no drama really. It's like, you know when someone just doesn't like you, you can tell?”

He went on to admit that while he doesn’t hate Harry, the two don’t spend a lot of time with each other. He noted that he doesn’t believe there’s any real rivalry or drama, instead suggesting that the two are just too busy, but seemed to acknowledge the tension between them when he added, “maybe it's because he doesn't run around and praise me, which I don't expect him to.

“Like, it's tongue in cheek, but he's at one end and I'm at the other.”

Images: Australian Idol / Seven

“The guy's a flop”: Kyle’s feud with David Campbell erupts

Kyle Sandilands’ feud with Today Extra’s David Campbell has been well documented over the years, though it’s doubtful that many had ‘a blow up over a fake marriage scandal’ on their 2023 bingo list.

David Campbell has recently come under fire for comments he made during an interview with Married at First Sight’s Jesse Bumford. David probed Jesse about his role in the cheating scandal between his ‘wife’ and another of the show’s grooms, and went so far as to suggest Jesse was partially responsible for the infidelity.

Kyle, like many viewers across Australia, believed David’s take left a lot to be desired. But Kyle, who has not been shy about his feelings for David in the past, wasn’t content to leave it at that.

While chatting to KIIS FM co-host Jackie O on their show, Kyle declared David to be a “flop” who “never has anyone’s back”. He confessed to his surprise at David’s approach to the interview, having decided that MAFS groom Jesse seemed like a “nice bloke” with the public behind him. Kyle then suggested that David had immediately sided with Jesse’s ‘wife’, Claire, to appeal to the “woke” crowd.

Jackie O seemed to share Kyle’s sentiments, agreeing that David had behaved like a “smug d**”.

“That's what David Campbell is like,” Kyle vented. “David Campbell reads a headline somewhere, believes it to be 100 per cent true, does no research, and forms a very stupid and immature opinion because that's what that type of person does.

“Then [he] runs around trying to protect everyone with no real details. The guy's a flop. I've never liked him.”

He then admitted that while he likes David’s Today Extra co-host Sylvia Jeffreys, he can’t stomach watching the show because David makes him “physically sick to look at.”

“This is his way of pumping himself up so he's a woke hero,” he surmised, “and no one likes that.”

Brookyln Ross, newsreader for KIIS FM, suggested that David - who should be aware of MAFS' heavy editing and early filming dates - had no excuse for his actions. Jackie O followed up on the thought, wondering if David had even bothered watching past the first few episodes of the show.

“I feel like he has seen the first episodes but has not watched the recent ones,” she mused. “He thought he was doing what the public wanted by attacking Jesse, and not realising, ‘dude, this isn't the way to go’.”

“He's out of date,” Kyle stated. “This is what David Campbell does. This guy doesn't actually have his own opinion. He always does what he thinks people would like, but he really has zero personality.”

Images: Getty

“I'm never speaking to him again": Kyle's feud with Harry Connick Jnr leaps to another level

Kyle Sandilands is in for a bout of silent treatment with his co-star Harry Connick Jr after a prank drew a far from desirable response from the exasperated American.

The pair, who star as judges on 2023’s season of Australian Idol, had been unsure about each other from the beginning.

On KIIS FM with Will and Woody, Kyle confessed that “I don’t think he gelled with me. If someone doesn’t like you, and you feel it, you just don’t like them automatically.”

With tensions already between them, Kyle recalled a critical phone call that led to the pair ceasing communication off the set, “I just thought ‘what a flop’ and hung up. That was it. Friendship over.”

On set, however, their situation wasn’t much better, and things boiled over when one of Kyle’s KIIS FM colleagues decided to play a little prank on the judges.

The 51-year-old radio presenter saw 'Intern' Pete Deppeler from KIIS FM swing by the set for an audition that was doomed from the start.

Pete, who entered in disguise with big glasses and a face mask, informed the judges that he would be performing a song titled ‘Big D**k Energy’. He went on to perform a unique rendition of Harry Styles’ hit ‘Watermelon Sugar’.

Kyle claimed not to have any idea what was going on when the big reveal came, while Kyle’s fellow judges Amy Shark and Meghan Trainor were thoroughly entertained by the stunt, the same could not be said for Harry Connick Jr who opted to leave the set.

As one fan put it, “obviously Harry had a tantrum and didn't want to be in on this. He seems so like he can't wait for the whole thing to be over.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Kyle and Jackie O (@kyleandjackieo)

Discussing the prank on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Kyle shared his belief that Harry is a “serious man and not into jokes” and that was why he had grown frustrated enough to storm off.

“Harry stood up and said, ‘oh my God, we're better than this’,” Kyle said, “and walked off the set.”

Kyle’s co-host, Jackie, had some intel of her own to share, mentioning that she’d heard a rumour Harry had asked for all footage of him responding to the prank to be “destroyed”.

Kyle, who was at his wit’s end with Harry’s more serious attitude towards life, concluded that their friendship was over, declaring, “I'm never speaking to him again. How the feuding royal family could bring an end to Australia's monarchy rule

As the fallout from the release of Prince Harry's memoir Spare continues to wreak havoc through the royal family, Australians are leaning more than ever to embracing a republic.

A new survey has shown that support for an Australian republic rose from 36 to 39 per cent among eligible voters since the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September, according to polling by Resolve Strategic for The Sydney Morning Herald.

And the number of voters against the constitutional shake-up dropped from 37 per cent to 31 per cent.

While the findings are a boost for the republican campaigners, the survey also showed 30 per cent of voters remain undecided on the issue.

The new polling found that 93 per cent of voters were aware of the ongoing feud within the royal family, which has been detailed in Prince Harry's memoir, along with a tell-all Netflix documentary series from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Only 7 per cent of voters were "completely unaware" of the recent royal revelations.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese appointed an Assistant Minister for the Republic, Matt Thistlethwaite, after Labor's federal election win last year, but has avoided making a commitment about a referendum on the republic issue since the death of Queen Elizabeth.

After the death of the monarch, Albanese said it would be "inappropriate" at the time to discuss such a constitutional change, but during his election campaign, vowed to "recognise First Nations people in our constitution."

Larry Emdur opens up on "feud" with Rove McManus

Larry Emdur has spilled the beans on his “long-running feud” with one of Australia’s best-loved TV personalities in his new book.

In his Happy As memoir, Larry recalls how his feud with Rove McManus began after Wheel of Fortune was cancelled, and Emdur looked for someone to blame.

“Naturally, I blamed it entirely on Rove. And so began our long-running feud,” he wrote.

“We’ve sumo-wrestled, we’ve taunted each other on social media, we’ve had a boxing match which only ended when I punched him in the dick. But I still consider him one of my great mates.”

“Early one morning, Rove even took it upon himself to appear in the big window behind Kochie and Mel Doyle on Channel 7’s Sunrise with a huge handwritten sign that said: SAVE LARRY.”

In the memoir, Emdur shares his first meeting Rove in detail, outside of a garage.

“Hi, I’m Rove!” said the incredibly enthusiastic, smiley young guy who shook my hand at the garage door. If the Energiser Bunny had a long-lost human brother, this was him. “Oh, my gosh, thanks for coming in, we can’t believe you’ve come in!"

From that moment on, he and Rove struck up a unique friendship and went into comedy together on The Loft Live, which was produced in a garage at RMIT Uni in Melbourne and broadcast on community TV Channel 31.

"Rove once told me his budget for the show was $50 a week, but I could tell the show actually ran on adrenaline, enthusiasm, naivety, a truly wonderful sense of the absurd and a passionate love of television."

Happy As by Larry Emdur, published by HarperCollins, is on sale from August 3 and available for pre-order now.

Image: Getty

Actors who didn’t get along with their directors

When it comes to making a Hollywood blockbuster movie, there are always a lot of big personalities involved, both on and off screen.

While actors and directors mostly collaborate in harmony to create movie magic (think Robert de Niro and Martin Scorsese), sometimes those on screen can’t stand the ones behind the camera.

While a lot of the time these feuds can go unnoticed, there have been several times where the stars of a movie have come out swinging against their directors, despite the success of a film.

Keira Knightley and John Carney

Working together in the 2007 musical drama Begin Again, director John Carney dubbed actress Keira Knightley a “supermodel” and criticised her acting while speaking to The Independent.

He said, “Being a film actor requires a certain level of honesty and self-analysis that I don’t think she’s ready for yet.”

He has since apologised for his comments, but despite accepting his apology, Knightley said working on Begin Again was “very difficult” and the pair just “didn’t get on”.

The cast of Steel Magnolias and Herbert Ross

Despite the 1989 film being a beloved classic, the tense production between director Herbert Ross and actresses Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley Maclaine and Dolly Parton became an issue for the cast.

“My deepest memories of the film were how we bonded together after he told one of us or all of us we couldn’t act,” Sally Field said in 2013. “He went after Julia with a vengeance. This was pretty much her first big film.”

In 1993, Ross commented on Julia Roberts’ acting, saying she “looked bad and gave a very bad performance,” prompting her to respond, “If he thinks he can talk about me in such a condescending way and not have me say something about it, then he’s nuts”.

George Clooney and David O Russell

On the set of the 1999 film Three Kings, actor George Clooney said he confronted director David O Russell after he “went nuts on an extra”.

“I would not stand for him humiliating and yelling and screaming at crew members, who weren’t allowed to defend themselves,” Clooney said in 2003.

He went on to say that working on the film was “the worst experience of my life.”

Faye Dunaway and Roman Polanski

The feud between Dunaway and Polanski on the set of the 1974 film Chinatown went down in Hollywood lore, with the director dubbing the actress as “difficult” and a “gigantic pain”.

In response to his accusations, Dunaway claimed that Polanski was “incessantly cruel” and has a “never-ending need to humiliate her”.

In her autobioghraphy, she said his disgusting behaviour “bordered on sexual harrassment”.

Bill Murray and Harold Ramis

After collaborating together on classic films such as Groundhog Day, Caddyshack and Ghostbusters, Murray and Ramis had a seemingly unbreakable comedic bond.

However, on the set of Groundhog Day, the relationship between the pair escalated until Ramis ended up grabbing Murray by the shirt collar and throwing him against a wall, according to a 2018 biography of Ramis by his daughter Violet.

According to the biography, Ramis was left “heartbroken, confused and yet unsurprised by the rejection”.

More than 20 years later, Murray appeared at Ramis’ side when he was on his deathbed and proceeded to mend the relationship with his collaborator at the very last minute.
