Terminally ill man graduates college alongside his granddaughter

<p>A grandfather-granddaughter duo from Texas have shared a heart-warming milestone together. </p> <p>Melanie Salazar, 23, and her grandfather Rene Neira, 88, have both graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) alongside each other. </p> <p>Rene first began his higher education in the 1950s, but when he fell in love and started a family, he was unable to finish his studies in the traditional four-year span. </p> <p>Throughout the years, Rene took part in online classes, but decided to re-enroll in college in 2016: the same year his granddaughter began her freshman year at the same school. </p> <p><span>"It just so happened that he wanted to go back to school again at the same time that I was starting." Melanie told CNN.</span></p> <p><span>It wasn't until the week of graduation they found out he would be honoured.</span></p> <p><span>"It was definitely an early Christmas miracle that they were willing to recognize him." Salazar said.</span></p> <p><span>"When we walked past the curtains onto the stage, I was overcome with emotion and started to tear up because I didn't know that we would actually get to share that moment together." </span></p> <p><span>Salazar said, "I told him afterwards, 'You did it, grandpa! College is over!'"</span></p> <p><span>Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, while Rene got a degree of recognition in economics. </span></p> <p><span>"It's never too late to go back to school." "I miss to be hugged": Celine Dion's emotional confession

<p>Award-winning singer Celine Dion has confirmed that she’s still “not ready to date” after her husband <span>René's</span> passing back in 2016.</p> <p>Dion sat down with NBC’s Sheinelle Jones on the<span> </span><em>TODAY</em><span> </span>show and admitted that she pours herself into her work and a new tour instead of dating.</p> <p>“I don't date,” Dion said matter-of-factly.</p> <p>“I'm not ready to date. I'm very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surrounding to make me — they make me laugh, but I miss to be touched.”</p> <p>Dion also said that she misses being “hugged”.</p> <p>“I miss to be hugged. I missed to be told "you're beautiful." I miss what a boyfriend and I miss what a husband would do.'”</p> <p>Dion also recalled her last conversation with her husband of more than 12 years back in 2016.</p> <p>“He called me before a show and give me a little message: ‘I love you’ and when I came home that night, it was very, very late ... And I didn't want to come and wake him up to give him a kiss, to wake him up and then he can't find sleep again. </p> <p>“And the next morning, he was gone. So, we talked before. And he sent me a text message. Renee Zellweger shines as Judy Garland in first “Judy” trailer

<p>Fans of Hollywood icon Judy Garland are in for a treat, with Oscar winner Renee Zellweger playing the <em>Wizard of Oz </em>star in an upcoming movie.</p> <p>The biopic, titled <em>Judy </em>shows Zellweger singing a much more mellow version of Garland’s most recognisable song <em>Somewhere Over the Rainbow</em>. The movie, which is set in London in 1968-69 will be released in September.</p> <p><em>Judy </em>will shed light on Garland’s tumultuous life and her struggle with countless health problems during her London tour. <p>Celine Dion has had a rough couple of years, losing both her husband, René Angélil, and her brother Daniel to cancer within just two days of each other in 2016.</p> <p>But things appear to be on the up and up for the “My Heart Will Go On” singer, who recorded an album in French, toured Europe and Canada with sell-out shows and is working on yet another album – all within the space of two years.</p> <p>And through it all, she’s had her children by her side. World-famous restaurant Noma makes kitchen dishwasher a co-owner

<p>Noma chef Rene Redzepi had made his 62-year-old dishwasher, Ali Sonko, a part-owner in the restaurant.</p> <p>Ali has worked at the kitchen sink for the Copenhagen restaurant for 14 years.</p> <p>On Facebook Rene also introduced two other new part-owners in his famous restaurant.</p> <p>Australian-born manager, James Spreadbury and Lau Richter, also join Ali in being owners of the business.</p> <p>"As we close the doors to the old Noma, we also push towards the next rendition. We are almost positive we will open the doors to our new space at the end of this year. But, most importantly, we are here to tell you that Noma in its new edition will have a handful of new partners. It gives me incredible joy to let the world know that our restaurant managers Lau and James, and our dishwasher, Ali, have become partners in Noma," Rene shared online.</p> <p>Other workers will also be surprised by this opportunity with Rene stating that more workers will be joining the ownership team.</p> <p>“This is only the beginning, as we plan to surprise several more of our staff with a piece of the walls that they have chosen to work so hard within. This move is one of the happiest moments of my time at noma,” Rene hinted.</p> <p>Ali moved to Denmark from Gambia 34 years ago and previously worked as a farmer.</p> <p>"I cannot describe how happy I am to work here. There are the best people to work with and I am good friends with everyone. Rene Angelil, Celine Dion’s husband, has died

<p>Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, has died after a lengthy battle with cancer.</p> <p>The 73-year-old passed away on Thursday morning at his home in Las Vegas after fighting cancer three separate times.</p> <p>A true tale of love as Angelil was Dion’s first and only true love. Dion met Angélil when she was just 12 years old, and he later became her manager.
