Babyfaced Sam Armytage unrecognisable in resurfaced clip

Aussie TV presenter Sam Armytage appears unrecognisable in a resurfaced clip.

A video has emerged of a baby-faced Armytage early on in her media career, presenting for news for WIN in Canberra in the '90s.

Armytage appeared on the Today show on Monday morning to discuss the launch of Nine's new reality series The Golden Bachelor, which she will host.

It didn't take long before Today host Karl Stefanovic teased her with a throwback video.

“You were part of the Nine family going way back to the early ’60s, have a look at this,” Stefanovic joked.

Today co-host Sarah Abo and Armytage laughed as footage of a younger Armytage appeared onscreen wearing a white blazer and rocking a bob cut.

Abo told Armytage “you haven’t changed at all!”

“Oh darling, thank you. Listen to that little high-pitched voice — I was a baby,” Armytage replied.

Armytage's new stint comes just months after she left the Seven Network, where she was previously the host for another reality TV show, Farmer Wants A Wife.

The show will air in 2025, with Armytage explaining that it is a similar show to The Bachelor that Aussies love but with a focus on those in their 50s and 60s.

“This is bringing it forward to the golden ages, as we like to call it. We’re all heading towards some of this faster than others,” Armytage joked before announcing that they're currently casting.

“What we’re looking for here is a Golden Bachelor, most likely in his 60s, and some ladies who will be in their 50s or 60s … because we’re casting now.

“This is for people who are looking for love again, so people who’ve got some miles on their tyres who are ready to fall in love again.”

She said there would be some “great stories” along with some “kind of sad” ones; however, the aim is for a “happy fairytale ending”.

Stefanovic then joked that it was a shame Richard Wilkins was “off the market” before adding he was shocked people over the age of 50 were “so active”.

“It’s shocking. I just feel like it’s like a lot to look at on the TV,” Stefanovic said, admitting that he'd watched the US version of the show that debuted last year.

“I just find some of it confronting in a physical way.”

Abo and Armytage were quick to cut off Stefanovic's train of thought before it went down “a path perhaps that we don’t want it to go down”.

“I know what you’re talking about, but I don’t think it’s confronting. I think it’s lovely,” Armytage said.

“I think that it’s life. It is. And there’s a huge percentage of the population in this age bracket who are active and looking for love.”

Images: Today

Young mum speaks after baby vape clip and ensuing death threats

The teenage mum has spoken out about the disturbing footage of her 11-month-old baby vaping that surfaced online.

The 16-year-old says she regrets the incident and was unaware the incident was being filmed.

She was seen laughing in the footage when her baby was forced to smoke the vape, causing him to cough severely.

The video was widely condemned on social media.

Officers from the NSW Mid North Coast Police District went to the house in Kempsey following a “concern-for-welfare-report” for the baby.

The check was called for due to the footage online, which showed the baby’s aunty holding the vape to his mouth.

In one video, a woman can be heard asking the 11-month-old, “want to try?” before putting the vape in his mouth, while in a second clip, a woman is seen laughing as the baby coughs out the toxic vapour.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the child’s mother called the incident a “silly joke”.

“I wish I didn’t do it, but I never meant to hurt him. I would never hurt him,” she told the outlet.

“It was just a silly joke, I put the vape up near him and I never thought he would grab it, I thought he‘d push it away.”

"I know I did the wrong thing, but what people are saying to me and writing is full on, I don't deserve that."

NSW Police did not press charges against the mother. They said in a statement that “no further action will be taken”.

A spokesperson from NSW police said, “Police have now spoken with the child’s family and – following advice provided by medical professionals and other governmental agencies – no further police action will be taken.”

The decision not to press charges comes amid horrified social media users demanding that the baby be taken from his mother.

“Who gives their kid a vape, grow up and be a better mother,” one user said.

“How can you put the vape up to your own son’s mouth and watch him suck on it and laugh while he’s choking and coughing.”

The mother commented on one of the clips, “Every c*** got the hide to sit there and talk about me and my child, take a look in yas own backyard,”

“You ain’t perfect either so keep that mouth going you ain’t scary, you’re nothing but bums.”

For parents who believe their child has inhaled smoke from a vape, experts recommend seeking medical advice from the poisons hotline or visiting an emergency room.

Guy Sebastian responds after lashing out at teens in new clip

Guy Sebastian has admitted he regrets language he used in a clip of him swearing at a group of teenagers over the Easter holiday break, adding the clip didn’t show the full extent of the situation.

The footage, obtained by The Daily Telegraph, shows the Voice coach storming up to the group of teens and calling one a “f***wit” after they allegedly said something offensive to him.

Looking clearly frustrated, the clip shows Sebastian approach the group saying, “I was f***ing being nice to you”, as one teen tells him to calm down.

“He’s a kid, calm down,” one teen repeats.

“I was a kid once, I wasn’t a f***wit,” Sebastian replies.

In his response to the clip, the 40-year-old singer said he regretted using strong language, but that the clip didn’t show everything.

“We all know teenagers can push boundaries,” he told Sunday Confidential.

“This isn’t an isolated situation.

“Being provoked for a reaction and being filmed sometimes comes with being in the public eye.

“I shouldn’t have sworn, I am not proud of that, but … it’s a very short snippet of a situation that does not tell the full story.”

The emergence of the footage comes at the end of a tough week for the Aussie artist, who gave evidence against his former manager in court and was forced to postpone his tour dates after testing positive to Covid.

Image: @guysebastian (Instagram)

The Federal Liberal MP Dave Sharma has said he is “alarmed and sickened” by video footage of a police officer kicking an indigenous teenager multiple times during an arrest in Sydney this week.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested on Monday in Surry Hills after footage showed a police officer holding his hands behind his back and kicking his feet out from underneath him, before dumping him to the ground.

Footage capturing the moment went viral on social media and now the Professional Standards Command is investigating the incident.

“Obviously, I would want the internal police investigation to do its job,” Mr Sharma, who is the neighbouring electorate MP for Wentworth told ABC news.

“I think anyone who saw the footage … can't be but alarmed and sickened by it.”

Image: Facebook

The teenager's sister, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told triple j's Hack the footage upset her deeply.

“When he came back home later that night, he was shaken up,” she said.

“He was very sore this morning and he was distraught.

“Teenagers, they're lippy, but you don't just abuse children because they're lippy.”

She went on to say the police were not mindful of the US protests following the death of George Floyd, otherwise, they would not have behaved in that way.

“The amount of support and the people that have been raising awareness about it — it's overwhelming.”

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that “we still have a long way to go in our country” when asked about the incident.

“What happened in the US is a good wake-up call for all of us, and I think that all of us have our hearts breaking as to what's happening in the United States,” she said.

“And we have to ensure that we can do what we can in our own country to protect all of our citizens.”

Central Metropolitan Region Commander Mick Willing said it was paramount for the investigation to run its course, but added he was wary of the current environment and global anti-police protests.

“Am I concerned about what I've seen in that footage? Absolutely, I am concerned, but I'm equally concerned about others who may use this footage to inflame it and turn it into something that it's not,” he said.

The teenager has since been released without any charges.

The officer involved was a junior constable who has now been placed on restricted duties while the investigation continues.

(Facebook: Justice For Buddy, Lewis Kelly Jnr)

Love Actually might be considered one of the world's most popular Christmas films.

However, not even an iconic scene taken from the movie for a spoof election campaign video by Boris Johnson could save him from a heap of criticism.

Mr Johnson played as a poor understudy for Love Actually’s Andrew Lincoln for his take of the scene.

In the film, Lincoln’s character Mark confesses his love for Julie, the wife of his best friend, with a series of cue card held up to the tune of carol singers outside their London home.

Scroll through the gallery to see the video in pictures.

While the scene has become a classic to reenact over the years since its release in 2003, the decision to use it by the conservative social media machine - which is run by an Australian political strategist and two New Zealanders - has received a harsh response from Britain.

Mr Johnson appears on a doorstep promising to “get Brexit done”.

Brexit, actually. pic.twitter.com/4ryuh19c75
— Boris Johnson (@BorisJohnson) December 9, 2019

The clip begins with the classic “tell them it’s carol singers” before launching into the Conservative election manifesto, saying “with any luck by next year we’ll have Brexit done.”

Embed video

While some people in the UK have marked the video as “brilliant,” others have remade their own version for the Prime Minister to watch.

I saw that Boris Johnson made a Love Actually campaign video.

Well, Boris, when I made this video, it looked as if the UK was going to leave before this Christmas.

I am more than happy you are still with us. Princess Anne shrugs at the Queen in hilarious clip

Princess Anne has been caught on camera shrugging at Queen Elizabeth II in an apparent ‘snub’ to US president Donald Trump.

In a video filmed at Buckingham Palace’s NATO reception on Tuesday evening, the Queen could be seen shaking hands with Trump and his wife Melania.

The 93-year-old monarch then looked over and noticed her daughter standing nearby. The Queen gestured at her daughter, but the princess shrugged and replied, “It’s just me and this lot.”

According to Britain’s PA Media news agency, Princess Anne was pointing to members of the royal household, including the Deputy Master of the Household, Lt Col Anthony Charles Richards, and William Peel, the Lord Chamberlain.

Social media users believed that the Queen was “scolding” Princess Anne for not greeting the president.

We're all Princess Anne in this video. pic.twitter.com/hlImWTbWCV
— Jono (@jonoread) December 4, 2019

However, the Times journalist Valentine Low said Princess Anne was not snubbing the Trumps.

Low said he found from colleague Laura Elston of the Press Association that the interaction was caused by a mix-up from the Queen.

“Princess Anne: the truth. No, she didn’t snub the Trumps. And she wasn’t told off by the Queen,” Low wrote on Twitter.

“Instead the Queen, after greeting the Donald (and the Melania), turned to Anne to see who was next. But there wasn’t anyone waiting: Trump was the last leader to be received by the Queen.

“Anne raised her hands in the air, laughed and said: ‘It’s just me’, adding a moment later ‘and this lot’ as she pointed to the members of the household behind her.

“So, the truth is now out there. Not that anyone will pay any attention. Anne the Trump Snubber is a much better story.”

So, the truth is now out there. This 18-year-old newspaper clipping is scarily accurate today

To say a lot has changed since 1999 would be an understatement. No one would be caught dead using a mobile phone with an antenna, nor would they be seen driving along to the sound of the Backstreet Boys.

But while many things have (thankfully) changed in the last 18 years, a resurfaced newspaper clipping from that year has us wondering, maybe today isn’t so much different after all.

A Reddit user has shared a clipping from the November 1, 1999 edition of the Wisconsin newspaper The Oshkosh Northwestern, and it’s so eerily accurate in today’s climate that it could almost have been written yesterday.

The clipping, which the Reddit user captioned, “It’s amazing how nothing has changed in the last 18 years,” speaks of a Trump presidency, Korean nuclear weapons, dodgy Clinton donations and even Al Gore makes an appearance.

Under the headline, “Trump would be U.S. trade rep,” it reads, “Donald Trump said Sunday that as president, he personally would handle US trade talks and would restore respect from countries doing business with America.”

He also reportedly “took aim at North Korea and China for ignoring U.S. overtures and building nuclear weapons”. Spooky!

What do you think of this eerily accurate newspaper clipping from 18 years ago? Tell us in the comments below.

Woolly sheep get first clip in several years

Last Thursday, RSPCA ACT found a woolly sheep wandering near Canberra. The unnamed sheep has apparently avoided capture and shearing for several years.

The RSPCA was concerned as the years of unshorn fleece could pose a health risk to the sheep itself.

"There could be infections, flystrike, [the coat] could prevent him from going to the bathroom. There could be a really nasty thing under that coat but we won't know that until we get there," RSPCA ACT boss Tammy Ven Dange said, according to the Canberra Times.

A shearer was called for but with a task like this, only the best would do. Shearing championship winner and Australian Shearers Hall-of-Famer, Ian Elkins, answered the call for help and the long process began. The RSPCA confirmed the weight of the shorn fleece weighed to more than 40 kilograms.

We hope the previously woolly mammoth is enjoying his new look!

Crazy day to shear a sheep with the whole world watching.
