Pippa Middleton reveals baby daughter's name

Pippa Middleton has announced the name of her new baby daughter.

The 38-year-old younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child with husband James Matthews in June.

According to People magazine, Pippa and James have chosen a name for their daughter that has a connection to Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet.

The proud parents have reportedly named their daughter Rose, according to the publication.

Like Lilibet, said to be called Lili by her parents, Rose's name is also floral in origin, being derived from the Latin "rosa", which refers to the thorny-stemmed flower.

While Rose is a classic name, it's not a particularly popular one, as name-ranking website NameBerry stated that Rose ranked 61st in popularity of registered baby girls' names in the UK in 2020.

Pippa and James' name choice is keeping in theme with the other classic names as their other children, Arthur, three, and Grace, one.

While Pippa never formally announced her third pregnancy, her bump was proudly on display when the couple attended the Party at the Palace" concert for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee last month.

Rose is the sixth grandchild for Middleton's parents Michael and Carole and another cousin for the Cambridges' royal trio, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

Pippa could soon be following in her sister's footsteps by inheriting a royal title of her own from her father-in-law.

Her husband, James Matthews, is the eldest son of David Matthews, and is in line to inherit his father's title as Laird of Glen Affric, along with a 10,000-acre Scottish estate near Loch Ness.

If he does receive the hereditary title upon his father's death, that would see Pippa and James become Lord and Lady Glen Affric.

The Commonwealth-recognised title would make the couple members of the nobility, one step down from royalty.

Pippa Middleton to gain noble inheritance

Pippa Middleton could be joining her older sister Kate in royal life with a title of her own, inherited from her father-in-law.

Pippa and James, a former professional racing driver and hedge fund manager, married in 2017 and share three children: Arthur, three, Grace, one, and three-week-old Rose.

The news of their future title comes as the family reportedly plan to relocate to a 31-hectare lot in Buckleberry, less than an hour’s drive from the Middleton’s new home in Windsor.

Their new home will reportedly mimic Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop, complete with glamping, cabins and a restaurant.

Kate and Pippa’s parents, Michael, 73, and Carole, 67, also live in Buckleberry, which has been a long-time base for the family and where they founded a party accessory company in 1987.

Image: @pippa.middleton.matthews (Instagram)

Duchess Kate and Pippa Middleton’s former London home sells for $3.36 million

Before she was lapping in royal family luxury, the Duchess of Cambridge was a relatively normal person. When she was just Kate, without the royal title, or a marriage to Prince William – the heir to the British throne – or an address at Kensington Palace, the royal was just plain Kate Middleton.

The home she once lived in with her sister, Pippa Middleton, recently sold for an eye-watering $3.36 million.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by KatePippamiddleton (@katepippamiddleton) on Jun 30, 2019 at 7:56pm PDT

It is not hard to find the personality of the beloved sisters who once graced the three-bedroom Chelsea home – with charm, elegance and a luxury feel, it is no surprise it was once lived in by a member of the royal family.

The property recently went on the market for $3.448 million, however sold for a little under the asking price.

The flat was purchased by the Middleton parents, Carole and Michael, in 2002 for $1.3 million – a pretty big leap from what it was sold for 17 years later.

The home hosts three spacious bedrooms along with two bathrooms and goes over three levels. A large living room – or ‘reception room’ – makes up the bulk of the living space on the second floor, while the three bedrooms can be located on the third floor.

Bathed with light, the new homeowners will be spoilt with an open and airy space – a rare find in a London home.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by KatePippamiddleton (@katepippamiddleton) on Sep 9, 2018 at 10:01pm PDT

While the kitchen and bathroom finishings are clean and appropriate – they have been left for the new house owners to put their own personal stamp on the place to make it officially their own. Although the home may not have quite the same design or finish as it did when Duchess Kate and her little sister lived there, it definitely retains the same regal feeling.

The royal has not lived in the home since 2009, before she was engaged to Prince William.

Pippa has not resided in the property for many years either, and now lives with her husband and son in their $30 million home.

The property is not quite a palace, but it is definitely a perfect home for a family.

Scroll through the gallery above to see the Chelsea home here.

Wimbledon's chicest pair: Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan's winning looks

Royal fans were treated to an extremely rare outing by the Duchess of Cambridge, Duchess of Sussex and Pippa Middleton for the Wimbledon women’s single final of 2019.

It’s the second time both Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan have attended the event together and this year was made all the more special as they watched and cheered Serena Williams on alongside Duchess Kate’s sister, Pippa.

kate and meghan greeting the duke of kent ❤️ pic.twitter.com/JkxpPee68Q
— barb (@daernerys) July 13, 2019

While it is not the first time the royals have spent a day out together, it is not often the public get to see the duo out and about – especially just days after a fun day out with family at the polo.

The Duchess of Cambridge donned a Dolce & Gabbana green crepe dress with a row of gold buttons and simple bow. The gorgeous frock is recycled by the royal – worn back in 2017 during a visit to Vancouver. However, this time the stunning, figure-hugging outfit was paired with a Dolce Sicily shoulder bag, adding a perfect touch to the regal look.

The Duchess of Sussex looked equally as beautiful in a chic tennis look for the special outing with her sister-in-law and Pippa. The royal wore a crisp white Givenchy shirt and a blue and white patterned skirt from Hugo Boss, which featured a stroke print and gorgeous plissé pleats. The new mother to Archie added classic touches from her elegant jewellery to sleek pulled back hair, but this time she added a micro bag – a cream Stella McCartney Grace clutch.

Earlier this week, the Duchess Meghan was spotted cheering on her close friend Serena Williams in a surprisingly casual yet chic ensemble – a white blazer, black top, jeans and a thick rimmed pair of sunnies.

A body language expert deemed the royal members to be like “three sisters sitting together” alongside Pippa.

Judi James told The Sun’s Fabulous: “Sitting Meghan in between Kate and Pippa looks like a very active attempt to both host her and include her in a way that hasn't quite occurred since she married Harry."

James added, “There is a lot of eye contact between the sisters-in-law here too, which, along with the laughter, should be seen as a sign they want to be seen as friendly together.”

Scroll through the gallery above to see the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex’s special day out together.

To end her Wimbledon style streak, Duchess Kate attended the men’s final the following day, where Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in a nail-biting match. This time, however, the royal switched out her two 'royal' sisters and finished off the closing event with her husband Prince William while wearing one of her favourite designers, Emilia Wickstead.

The the mum-of-three kept is simple, chic and summery in a blue below-the-knee frock with capped sleeves and a delicate bow, but her choice of footwear is what really surprised royal fans. The Duchess usually opts for hefty summer wedges, however, she chose a nude ankle-strap pump with a thick heel instead for her tennis outing.

Why Duchess Kate hasn't met Pippa's baby yet

On Monday, Duchess Kate’s younger sister Pippa Middleton gave birth to her first child at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Kate’s other sibling, James Middleton, was quick to visit his new nephew, however, the Duchess of Cambridge was nowhere to be seen.

While royal reporter Richard Palmer said Prince William and Kate were “thrilled” for Pippa and her husband James Matthews, it is likely the royals will be unable to visit their family while they remain in the Lindo Wing at the hospital.

Pippa Middleton has given birth to a boy, born on Monday at 1.58pm and weighing 8lb and 9oz. The Lindo wing was also the place of birth for some of the most loved royals including Prince William, Prince Harry and their cousin Zara Tindall.

And with that heritage, it’s perhaps no surprise that 24 hours in a suite of the maternity wing costs a princely sum, starting at almost $AU11,000, according to MamaMia, which compares it to a five-star resort.

The website for the Lindo wing, which opened in 1937, describes its ambience as “modern” and “homely”, with deluxe rooms and suites available “for patients who would like to take advantage of a larger space.” No doubt that will include Middleton.

The Sunday Express reported on Middleton’s pregnancy in April, just prior to Duchess Kate giving birth to Prince Louis, with a friend saying: “When Pippa found out she was pregnant, she was obviously thrilled and utterly overjoyed.

“Naturally, big sister Kate and parents, Carole and Michael were the first people she told — [husband] James aside — and they could not have been more delighted.”

Middleton kept mum until June, according to Harpers Bazaar, confirming the couple’s happy news, writing about the effect exercise has had on her pregnancy in a column for Waitrose Weekend.

"I've noticed my body change but through exercise I feel it's being strengthened," she wrote.

The expectant mum has reportedly chosen not to find out the sex of the baby, with her brother-in-law Spencer Matthews saying the couple are “extremely private and honestly, we know nothing."

What would you do with $11,000? A poem looking back on the horror of polio

Pippa Kay, 65, is a writer with many interests. She enjoys time with her family, sailing, reading, writing, and all sorts of travel. She belongs to writing organisations including the Society of Women Writers and the Fellowship of Australian Writers.

POLIO

When we were kids a monster came to play.
Its slobber slimed our toys. It swam at our beach
uninvited; splashed us and ran away;
hid in our homes, always just out of reach.
Hands over ears couldn’t stop its snigger
as it crept under beds, slept on the floor.
It wasn’t scared of us. It was bigger
stronger and worse than anything before.
It shared our breath and caught the goodnight kiss
mothers blew from lips to land on our cheeks.
Chance chose its victims. It was hit and miss
slaughter.
This killer stalked our town for weeks
in nineteen-fifty-three. Our legs were chained,
voices frozen. Some children couldn’t walk.
Some couldn’t breathe. Infants were constrained
in iron lungs. Many died before Salk’s
vaccine arrived.
With open arms and doors
We asked the virus vanquisher to stay.
We rolled up our sleeves, took the jab, because
we wanted this monster to go away.

Do you have a poem to share?
