Hollywood star Gregory Peck’s lookalike grandson cast in new movie
The grandson of Hollywood icon Gregory Peck has been announced to play the new Mr Spock in the Star Trek television franchise.
Ethan Peck, 32, will play the character in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, which premieres in January.
“We searched for months for an actor who would, like [the late Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto], bring his own interpretation to the role,” showrunner Alex Kurtzman told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zach, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock's legacy.”
After the news was announced, Ethan took to Twitter to thank the Nimoy family for giving him their blessing to take on the role.
Thanks to the Nimoy family for your open arms, warm welcome, smiling curiosity and support, for making me feel worthy, as I embrace and take into my heart the iconic half alien we know as Mr. Spock. It is an incomparable honor. 🖖🏼 #StarTrekDiscovery #LLAP pic.twitter.com/jEXG1T253Z

Although he has appeared in various TV and movie projects over the years, Ethan is most known for being the grandson of Oscar winner Gregory Peck.
The To Kill a Mockingbird star sadly died in 2003 of bronchopneumonia.
Ethan has welcomed all comparisons to his late grandfather, with some saying he inherited Gregory’s deep voice, thick brows, black hair and defined jawline.
“It's a very wonderful comparison,” Ethan told Hollywood Today Live in 2016.
“I think before it was a little more difficult to stomach because people just kind of want to see him, which is understandable and that's cool. And also wonderful, like he's wonderful, what a great comparison!”
