Jennifer Aniston speaks candidly about not having kids: "No one knows what I've been through"
Jennifer Aniston has spoken candidly about her private life and the fact she hasn’t had any children, hitting out at her detractors and critics and proclaiming that her “purpose on this planet” may not be “to procreate”.
The 49-year-old former Friends star made the new admissions in the September issue of InStyle magazine in the US.
During the interview, the actress hinted that a “medical” issue may have contributed to the reason why she has not had a baby and said it’s not fair that women are labelled as “damaged goods” if they have not had a family.
The outspoken star also declared she is not heartbroken after her marriage breakup from actor Justin Theroux earlier this year and called out all the judgments she faces.
“It's pretty crazy. The misconceptions are ‘Jen can't keep a man’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she's selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I'm sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I'm not heartbroken,” declared the actress.
In reference to starting a family, Aniston continued, “And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what's going on behind closed doors.
“No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me,” the star added.
“They don't know what I've been through medically or emotionally.
“There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they're deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn't to procreate. Maybe I have other things I'm supposed to do?” the star concluded.
