Anthony Callea asked to sing at Bert Newton’s funeral
Anthony Callea has revealed that his good friend Bert Newton has asked him to sing at his funeral.
Speaking to hit105’s Stav, Abby and Matt this week, the Australian Idol star said he’s developed a great friendship with the 80-year-old TV veteran since the pair worked together on a stage production in 2013
“I think I’m in his will actually, he told me that I’m in his will to sing at his funeral,” Anthony said on radio.
“We haven’t discussed rates yet,” he then joked.
When the Brisbane-based radio hosts asked him what Anthony would be singing, he had a cheeky response.
“They don’t tell me what to sing unless they’re paying,” he laughed.
Anthony then opened up about the great dynamic the pair shared when they previously worked together 2013 production of Grease: The Musical.
“We shared a dressing room together and we had so much bloody fun,” revealed Anthony. “He’s so naughty.
“I used to play so many jokes on him. He used to have his dressing gown in the dressing room just waiting there in between scenes and so I used to go and put that in the freezer.”
