Ed Sheeran tests positive for Covid-19

British singer Ed Sheeran revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 and plans to carry out performances and interviews from his house while he self-isolates.

The 30-year-old performer broke the news on his Instagram on Monday, just days before his new album titled "=" was due to be released.

He wrote, "Quick note to tell you that I've sadly tested positive for COVID, so I'm now self-isolating and following government guidelines."

He said he is unable to go about his usual promotional appearances and will be doing as many interviews and performances as he can from his home.

He concluded by saying "Apologies to anyone I've let down."

Sheeran's Instagram post has garnered over 16,000 messages of well wishes, as fans from all over the world send their positive messages to the singer.

The news comes as Ed has been announced as the musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live on November 6th.

According to sources at Page Six, SNL producers are now "scrambling" to find a replacement performer who appeals to the same demographic.

“Ed is offering to perform live via video link, but this isn’t something SNL does,” the insider source said. “The show likes to have the performer in studio.”

Ed's fourth studio album "=" is still expected to be released on October 29th.
