Keith Urban reveals why he cries once a month

He confessed to crying once a month in a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, and on Andrew Denton's Interview on Tuesday night, Keith Urban revealed the reason behind his tears.

The 50-year-old country music star put it down to “accumulative things” that “add up” over time.

He told Denton: “Oh well, anything. [It's] accumulative, accumulative things that didn't really warrant a cry at the time, and they add up you know.

“I mean little things, [the] passing of time, kids growing up, the loss of friends, loved ones for all manner of reasons, all of it.”

Keith, who has two daughters Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, seven, with wife Nicole Kidman, also gave an insight into family life, explaining the delicate balancing act between work and family.

“I think certainly work life, home life balance is such a rolling reality for so many people. And trying to reconcile those things that all happen in a certain small window of time in your life,” he said.

In 2016, the music star admitted for the first time that he cried once a month.

Recalling how he shed tears in front of wife Nicole at the time, Keith explained: “Nic was filming some pretty harrowing, abusive scenes last night, and she was telling me about them.”

He added: “When I haven't cried in a while, I can tell I get pent-up. Then maybe once a month I have a good cry, one big avalanche of a torrential downpour, and I feel amazing for weeks afterward.”
