Only 3 weeks after her announcement Olivia Newton-John shocks fans by cancelling Aussie tour

Olivia Newton-John’s spoken word tour has been cancelled only three weeks after it was announced to the public. The actress, who is known for starring in hit movie Grease and for being a four-time Grammy award winner, was scheduled to speak at an “In Conversation” event in Sydney and Melbourne in September.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday that event organisers have said the reasons for cancellation were “beyond our control”. They did, however, say that everyone who has purchased tickets will be issued a refund.

Channel Nine personality Ray Martin was said to host the event and planned to interview the actress and singer on her lifetime achievements and humanitarian work.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the actress, who turns 70 in September will soon be coming to Australia for her annual Wellness Walk to help fundraise for her cancer centre.

She is also set to release her autobiography later this year titled “Don’t Stop Believin’”, which is a tell-all about her journey to the top.

Olivia, who was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, said that she was in excruciating pain as the illness metastasised to her spine.

To relieve the pain, she admitted to the Today show’s entertainment editor Richard “Dickie” Wilkins about taking medical cannabis and said that it “helped” the feeling of discomfort that she was constantly in.

The actress is an advocate for medical marijuana and has spoken up about its benefits before.

“I take a lot of natural herbs and healing remedies and also medicinal cannabis that’s helped me a lot,” said the Xanadu actress.

“Initially I had a lot of pain. I don’t have pain now,” she added.

She recently appeared at the 40th anniversary of musical Grease with John Travolta at Los Angeles. The iconic film produced hits such as “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee”, “Summer Nights”, “Hopelessly Devoted To You” and “Beauty School Drop Out”.
