“There was something between us”: Kylie Minogue opens up about relationship with late Michael Hutchence
Pop singer Kylie Minogue has opened about her passionate relationship with late INXS star Michael Hutchence in a new documentary about the rocker’s life. The documentary is called Mystify: Michael Hutchence.
She spoke to A Current Affair about the first time they met.
“I'm in Hong Kong with my manager, my mother, my hairdresser and about six dancers - the time passes and there's no sign of him!”
As time passed, the people she was with got more and more frustrated until Hutchence appeared later.
“Eventually he rocks up, so we do go out and there was something between us - a frisson,” she said.
Minogue spoke to the film’s director Richard Lowenstein about the intimate videos that she willingly handed over.
"I go, 'Kylie, you don't want me to show this' and she goes 'Why not? My bum looks good'" he joked.
Lowenstein also spoke about his motivations behind the film.
"What I want to leave is a legacy that wasn't the cliché rockstar legacy," Lowenstein told A Current Affair's Sylvia Jeffreys in an exclusive interview.
"I saw all these documentations and dramatisations and basically very little had the person that I knew. The people who really knew him best of all were the girlfriends. They woke up with him, and saw him in the down times."
The documentary is told through personal home videos as well as other footage and include voice-overs from family and friends in his close inner circle, which includes Minogue.
