Why Keith Richards was forced to apologise to Mick Jagger

They’ve been bandmates and friends for over half a century now, but Rolling Stones legends Keith Richards and Mick Jagger still have the odd tiff from time to time.

However, their latest spat has played out for all to see, forcing Richards to issue a public apology to Jagger after making some insensitive comments he made during an interview with the Wall Street Journal Magazine.

In it, the iconic guitarist described Jagger, who recently welcomed his eighth child at the age of 73, as a “randy old bastard” and suggested he should get a vasectomy.

“It’s time for the snip – you can't be a father at that age,” he said. “Those poor kids!”

Then, just hours after the interview was published online, Richards took to Twitter to apologise to Jagger, saying he “deeply regrets” the comments he made.

The latest rift in the pair’s friendship comes after Richards released his 2010 memoir Life, in which he made a number of unflattering comments regarding Jagger, who he said became “unbearable” in the ‘80s.
