How to create a Facebook group

Creating a Facebook group is a great way to connect with specific sets of people, like your family, hobby group or co-workers. Within the group, everyone can share updates, links, photos and document, as well as message other group member. You can set your group to private as well so there will be prying eyes.

Here’s how to create a group:

  1. From your Facebook home page, go to the Groups section on the left side menu and click “Create Group”.
  2. A window will appear. Add your group name, add members (you can add more later, too) and select the privacy setting for your group. There are three privacy settings available:
  1. Click “Create” when you're done.
  2. You will then be asked to choose an icon for your group. This is the icon that appears next to the group name on the left side menu.
  3. Once the group is created, you will be taken to the group. You can now personalise the group by adding a cover photo, group description, tags and set a group email address.
  4. To change any of your settings, click settings (three dots located in top right corner) and a drop-down menu will appear. From there, option will appear to add more people, send a message to all group member and create an event. You can also click “Edit Group Settings” to change group’s name, privacy, description and other settings.
