How to crop photos on your smartphone
Ever taken the perfect picture only to realise there’s a pesky stray fingertip in the corner of the shot or a stranger walking into the frame? Fortunately, it’s easy to crop your photos. Here’s how.
iPhone
1. Open the “Photos” app and select the image you want to crop.
2. Tap the “Edit” button in the upper right corner.
3. Tap the “Crop” (two intersecting lines, forming a square) button located at the bottom of the screen.
4. Crop image by dragging edges of white outline box that appears over the image. You can also move the box around your image by dragging it with a single finger.
5. Click the “Reset” button if you’ve made a mistake. This will revert any changes you’ve made.
6. Once you’re finished cropping, tap “Done”. This will save your cropped image.
Android
1. Open “Gallery” app and select photo you want to crop.
2. Tap the “Settings” or “Menu” button and select “Crop” from the pop-up menu.
3. Crop image by dragging edges of white outline box that appears over the image. You can also move the box around your image by dragging it with a single finger.
4. Tap “Apply Crop” to crop the photo. If you like what you see, click the “Save” or “Done” button.
Top tip: Only the cropped image is saved; the rest is discarded. If you want your original photo, make a duplicate before making any changes.
