What the tiny hole next to your iPhone camera does
Look at the back of your iPhone – do you see the tiny hole near the camera? It actually has a function so what is it used for?
It’s a small microphone designed to capture sound from the direction the lens is pointing.
It was first introduced in the iPhone 5s to enable better sound quality during calls.
The iPhone also has a microphone on the top and bottom of the smartphone.
When the three-microphone model was introduced, Apple’s Phil Schiller said: “We now have not two but three microphones.
“This helps in Facetime calls, in videos, we can use them for noise cancellation, and we can use them for applications like Siri.”
