Channel Seven backlash – new show "exactly the same" as Nine's Australian Ninja Warrior
Australian Ninja Warrior was one of the runaway hits for Nine in 2017, and Channel Seven is looking to get in on the action with the newly-announced Australian Spartan.
The show sees contestants working as teams to negotiate a range of obstacles, with the promo voiceover boldly claiming it will be the, βtoughest, biggest test of teamwork ever.β

But if Channel Seven thought their answer to Australian Ninja Warrior would be an immediate hit with fans, they were sorely mistaken. The immediate response to promo videos has been lukewarm at best, and many Twitter users have criticised the network for making a program so similar to that of one of its main competitors.
#australianspartan... Very obviously 7s next instant flop.

Not everyone was negative however, with some users looking forward to the program.Β
