“Gotta keep the rif-raf out”: Kochie takes cheeky dig at Karl Stefanovic
Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch has dealt a lighthearted blow against Today host Karl Stefanovic as they report amid the growing media scrum outside Buckingham Palace.
Hosts of the two competitor breakfast shows began broadcasting live in London this week following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, forcing them to work in close quarters and prompting some cheeky digs.
On Thursday, Kochie shared a tongue-in-cheek snap on Instagram referring to Stefanovic as “rif-raf”.
The 66-year-old uploaded a photo of Stefanovic outside the gates of the palace, with his face between the bars and an anguished expression to his Instagram Stories, writing, “Gotta keep the rif-raf out @karlstefanovic_ 😂”.

Stefanovic, who is also known for his humour and antics, promptly shared the snap to his own Instagram Stories.
The interaction comes as a contingent of 100 members of the Australian media report on the ground in London, with Sky News talent Laura Jayes, Peta Credlin and Paul Murray joining the teams from Nine and Seven.
Reporters from Channel 10, including Lisa Wilkinson, Sandra Sully, Angela Bishop, Ursula Heger and Jennifer Keyte have also jetted off the London following the monarch’s death.
Australia isn’t the only country with a strong presence in London, with a media village housing over 12,000 media workers from around the world being set up around the Palace periphery.
Since touching down in London, fellow Sunrise host Nat Barr shared behind-the-scenes footage of how they’re reporting on the scene, and at the “mini city” of the media compound, with one clip showing tents and trucks for media outlets around the world, as well as a row of portable toilets that she describes as “nothing but the best”.
With much of the world mourning the Queen’s passing, her funeral and surrounding events are expected to be some of the biggest events in Britain since the 2012 Olympics.
Her Majesty passed away aged 96 on Thursday afternoon local time, and her funeral will be held on Monday, September 19.
