"It's killing the sport": Fans turn on Karl Stefanovic's Origin reporting
Fans weren't impressed with the first week of Karl Stefanovic's reporting of the State of Origin, but they kept an open mind for his second appearance during the second game.
His pronunciation of Queenslands players left fans angered, as he butchered several of their names.
Many said that he should have known how to pronounce each name properly before going to air instead of making multiple errors and attempting to do it off the cuff.
He tripped over the names of Felise Kaufusi, Tino Faasuamaleaui, Jai Arrow and Moeaki Fotuaika.
Daily Telegraph sports editor James Silver was one of many to take Stefanovic to task on Twitter.
“Question from someone who never watches brekkie TV: Is Karl Stefanovic usually this bad or is it just an Origin thing?” he wrote.
Others agreed with him, saying he shouldn't be allowed to cover games again.
"Karl Stefanovic should never be allowed to cover another rugba leeg game ever again, more names wrong than right," one person complained on Twitter.
Another agreed.
"Did Karl prnounce half the QLD origin team incorrectly? Embarrassing," a fan said on Twitter.
"Serious question: Do boomers even enjoy Nine's coverage of the NRL? This s*** is so cringe it's killing the sport," one passionate fan complained.
