Patti Newton's exciting announcement
Patti Newton has revealed an exciting new gig that will see her appear on Aussie TV screens once again.
The 73-year-old media personality has confirmed that she will be making a cameo on the Aussie soap opera Neighbours.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Patti said that although she was excited for her guest appearance, the cameo wouldn’t last long as her character gets killed off in the same episode she makes her debut in.
“Obviously, they didn't want me in an on-going role,” she joked.
Patti will enter Ramsay Street as Valerie Grundy for the show’s milestone 8000th episode.
Patti, who is married to Aussie TV icon Bert Newton, will play an “eccentric woman who lives a sad and lonely life” before she meets her tragic end.
“For an old dear like me, it's nice to have a challenge and get out of your comfort zone,” she said.
Although her cameo will be brief, there is still a possibility that she could appear on the show in the future.
Patti said a producer joked that she could one day make a return as a ghost or Valerie’s secret twin sister.
Patti, who has a showbiz career spanning over five decades, has in the past also dabbled with reality TV.
She has appeared on Dancing With The Stars, Deal or No Deal and The Celebrity Apprentice Australia.
