Sam Frost to be written out of Home and Away

Home and Away star and former Bachelorette Sam Frost will receive the COVID-19 vaccine after all, despite making headlines less than a month ago for attempting to justify her decision not to. Her announcement comes just days after Channel 7’s announcement that it would require all employees to be fully vaccinated by January 10, including the cast of its biggest soap.

In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday afternoon, Frost wrote, “I’m not leaving Home & Away. I’ve got a medical procedure booked in for January. So I won’t be fully vaxxed until mid-late February. I will be written out temporarily. Jazzy is going on an off-screen adventure for a few weeks.. But I’ll be back ❤️

My bosses are amazing, we’ve been in open communication for months. Very grateful we were able to make a plan that works for everyone.”

Three weeks ago, Frost deactivated her Instagram following a huge backlash after attempting to justify her decision not to get vaccinated. Becoming emotional in a video posted to the platform, Frost said, “There are a lot of different reasons people aren’t getting vaccinated – and it might be because of their medical history, their concerns they might have, they might have family history, it might be religious reasons, whatever.

“I want to tell those people that feel like they’re getting separated from society – well, I’m not vaccinated, and there’s a reason why I’m not, I’ve spoken to my doctor and my psychologist about it, and I’m going to keep it private,” she said.

Fellow Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield criticised Frost, writing on Instagram, “I mean, it kinda speaks for itself. So brave to ‘come out’ as putting yourself as an individual above your community because you listen to misinformation.”

Frost has not elaborated on what her private reason for not getting vaccinated was, or why it no longer applies now that her employer is requiring all employees be vaccinated.

A Channel 7 spokesperson said, “To provide the safest possible work environment for cast, crew and presenters, Seven Productions have made the decision to only engage those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, taking effect in January next year.”

Frost has played Jasmine Delaney on Home and Away since 2017.
