The Chase contestant ridiculed over conspiracy theories

A contestant on The Chase has stunned Larry Emdur with her belief that the moon landing was faked.

On Thursday night's episode of the quiz show, new mum Laura told the host that she loved "conspiracy theories".

“Aliens, love anything to do with space and all that kind of thing,” she said.

“Do you believe that man has walked on the moon?” Emdur asked.

“No,” she replied.

“Absolutely not?” Emdur said.

“No I don’t, I think that was a conspiracy,” Laura said.

Quickly trying to end the conversation, Larry said, “I wish you lots of luck.”

Starting the round of rapid fire questions, Larry's first question was described as "peak comedy".

He asked, “The first person to set foot on the moon was US astronaut Neil who?”

Without hesitation, Laura said, "Armstrong".

The clip of the encounter has made the rounds online, with a flood of people calling out the conspiracy theorist guest.

One person on Reddit said, “She should’ve answered, ‘Actor Neil Armstrong.’”

Another added, “I KNOW the truth but I’m here for the money!” another said.

Someone else demanded, “Give back the $2000!”
