Touching tribute for Gogglebox favourite Di Kershaw

When Gogglebox Australia returns for its much-anticipated 16th season this week, one hugely sentimental piece will be missing.

Di Kershaw and her husband Mick will of course not be featured in this upcoming season, following Di’s sad passing in July after she succumbed to throat cancer at the age of 76.

The popular TV show will pay an emotional tribute to its former founding cast member, with a dedication at the beginning of the episode, while a three-minute montage of her and Mick's time over the 15 seasons will be included to bookend the show.

Kershaw’s Gogglebox family have also fondly remembered their departed co-star.

The Dalton family said, “We loved how Di brought her hilarious self to every episode, making us laugh with her infectious cackle, her brutal honesty and constant references to Babee.

“We adored how she would tease Mick and irritate him. She was exceptional, and our Gogglebox family will always remember her.”

Lee and Keith added, “We are going to miss her great wit plus her blue eyeshadow on our screens each week. We’ll miss her trademark lines, for example, Bebee and her most famous ‘spear me’. She was a wonderful lady and her and Mick will be sadly missed.”

Married for more than 50 years, Mick and Di were indigenous art dealers who lived in Sydney and had appeared in every season of the hit TV series. One of the show’s most beloved personalities, Di was never afraid to be herself, sharing her opinions and a fond love of white wine.

Gogglebox have announced the new household added to the line-up, a group of four friends from Brisbane, who all share indigenous heritage.
