TV star “absolutely gutted” after Better Homes and Gardens axing

Better Homes & Gardens landscaper Jason Hodges is “absolutely gutted” after being let go from the beloved TV show.

Jason had been a fundamental part of the show for the last 15 years, however next season’s landscaping segment will instead see a familiar face many viewers may recognise.

Charlie Albone, who has been deemed as Hodges’ “rival”, previously co-hosted Selling Houses Australia.

Charlie will be joined on the show by garden expert and TV presenter Melissa King, with horticulturalist Graham Ross remaining on the show.

Johanna Griggs is also set to be back on the show in 2020.

“To be honest, I am absolutely gutted,’’ Hodges admitted to The Sunday Morning Herald about leaving the Channel 7 program.

‘‘I think of myself as being the luckiest guy in the world, to have had the best job in the world and work with the best team there is ...

“I’d be lying if I said I was not upset but as people in this business know, that’s how it goes.”

A spokesperson for the hit lifestyle show says they are bidding a “fond farewell” to the beloved landscaper.

“Jason joined Better Homes and Gardens in 2005 and has been transforming outdoor spaces and providing expert advice to viewers ever since,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Mumbrella.

“Career highlights include his medal-winning garden designs at both the Chelsea Flower Show in London and the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Jason will now turn his focus to his farming business, Buxus Balls of Berry, and other ventures.”

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the tight-knit crew are rattled by Hodges’ departure, with host Johanna Griggs believed to be particularly struck by the news.

Jason Hodges’ last episode on Better Homes and Gardens will be airing December 21.
