Grandparents feud with local council over street lamp in driveway
A pair of grandparents in Perth are feuding with their local council over a street lamp in the middle of their extended driveway.
Antonio and Nancy Grasso told 9news dodging the lamp post, which hasn’t worked for a year, has become an onerous ordeal and they want it moved to either side of their home’s entry.
But the local council has hit back, claiming it never gave approval for the couple to build the extended double drive way around the pole.
“If we have visitors, we always have to say to them mind the post, we were going to put a flag there or something to remind them when they reverse,” Mrs Grasso said.
“[The council] told us they're going to have to cut the concrete instead of shifting the post.”
Moving the post would cut power to the street perpendicular to the Grasso’s home, and crews say they can’t get underground with the extended driveway in place.
The council has reportedly asked the couple to cut back their driveway.
