One Nation treasurer arrested

A senior member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation party has been charged with fraud.

The party's national executive treasurer Alexander Jones was arrested on Wednesday following raids on his Brisbane home and the party's Queensland office.

The 22-year-old financial administrator was found out following a complaint from the Electoral Commission of Queensland ion January, prompting an investigation from the Crime and Intelligence Command’s Finance and Cyber Crime Group.

In a text message meant for the One Nation treasurer, Senator Malcolm Roberts said, "Hang in there, Alex," before signing his name and mistakenly sending the text to a journalist from the Brisbane Times.

Police allege that Mr Jones submitted fraudulent documentation to a 2020 election funding application worth $24,000.

“Police will allege the man, a financial administrator for a political party, submitted fraudulent documentation relating to a 2020 election funding application for $24,000,” a police statement said.

Alexander Jones was charged with two counts of utter forged documents, one count of fraud and one count of forgery.

He is set to appear in a Brisbane court on February 4th.
