Strong new lead blows Madeleine McCann case wide open

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have reportedly discovered a strong new lead which blows the kidnapping case wide open.

The Sun reports that investigators have been sent to Bulgaria to seek a mysterious figure dubbed “the woman in purple”, which they believe may hold the key to the case.

The paper contends the woman’s husband, who has since passed away, is a convicted paedophile, and that the couple were working as domestic helpers near the holiday apartment where Madeleine tragically vanished in 2007, as a three-year-old.

The couple was reported to police by locals following Madeleine’s disappearance, but they were unable to track them down until this recent link to Bulgaria.

Whether this development proves decisive or another loose end remains to be seen, in what is one of the most high-profile kidnapping cases in recent history.
