Urgent ALDI food recall – do you buy this popular snack?

ALDI has issued a recall for Whopper products sold at stores across NSW and the ACT due to the presence of undeclared allergens.

Food Standards Australia & New Zealand said the malted milk balls sold in the 141g boxes contain previously undisclosed allergens milk, wheat, barley, peanuts and tree nuts.

Consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to any of the above ingredients may have a reaction after consuming the snack.

Australia’s Food Standards Code specifies that a number of allergens – peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, sesame seeds, fish and shellfish, soy and wheat and lupins – must be declared on the food label.

The recall applies to all best before dates.

“Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund,” the supermarket said in a statement.

“ALDI Stores takes product quality and safety seriously and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
