William Tyrrell's foster parents charged with property fraud
William Tyrrell's foster parents are facing charges of property fraud, after being accused of getting someone to make "dummy bids" at an auction in Sydney.
The couple, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will each face one count of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and will face court in October.
They have been accused of getting a person to deliberately make fake bids on a property in December 2020, in order to unfairly drive the price up.
These charges have no relation to the case of their missing three-year-old foster child, who was last seen wearing a Spider-Man suit in the garden of his foster grandmother's home in Kendall on the NSW mid-north coast in 2014.
"Strike Force Rosann detectives issued Future Court Attendance Notices (FCAN) to a 55-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman," police said in a statement.
"It will be alleged in court the pair organised a third party to falsely bid for a property at an auction in December 2020."
The maximum penalty for dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception is 10 years in prison.
