$600k found hidden in Sydneysider’s backyard
It is not everyday you find hundreds of thousands of dollars being found in a suburban backyard, however it was the case for NSW police when they were forced to search in a back garden.
The eye-watering money haul was uncovered on a Bankstown property, located in Sydney’s south-west.
The shocking discovery had been made after the original possessors or the money tossed it into a neighbouring property in order to evade detection.
Unfortunately for the residents, it was not a finders-keepers game, and the money has since been forfeited to the Commonwealth.
The cash was seized in early 2019, after a federal police investigation into an alleged crime syndicate.
Two people have been charged so far.
