Adelaide man attempts to sell stockpile of 5,400 toilet paper rolls
An Adelaide man has reportedly reached out to independent supermarkets to sell his stockpile of 5,400 toilet paper rolls.
A local grocer told 9News they had been approached by the man after stocks in the community ran low. The man had reportedly been banned from selling the item online.
Online platforms such as Amazon Australia and Ebay Australia have been working to remove any listings of basic products with inflated prices.
The report came after supermarket giant Woolworths announced it sold 20.5 million rolls in the last week.
“Despite much more stock coming in, we’re still not where we need to be,” CEO Brad Banducci said in a statement. “It is slowly improving, but please help everyone by only buying what you need.”
Limits on toilet paper and other basic goods remain in place at supermarkets around the country amid pre-Easter high-trading period.
