Coles customer makes horrifying discovery
When John Younes purchased a pack of Turkish rolls from Coles on September 25 with a best before date of September 28, he naturally assumed it was perfectly edible. He fed some to his son, only for the four-year-old to wake up vomiting that night. That’s when John discovered something disgusting on the bread – mould.
“Shame on you Coles,” he wrote on the supermarket’s Facebook page. “We bought Coles Turkish bread yesterday on 25/09/2017 with [a best before] date 28/09/2017. My son [woke] up vomiting last night. We thought it was a bug, only for me to discover today that your Turkish bread is mouldy.”
Understandably, John returned the bread to his local store only to find something shocking – more mouldy loaves of Turkish bread, despite supposedly being within their best before date.
“Thanks for bringing this to our attention, John,” a Coles spokesperson responded to the post. “We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, so we’re disappointed to see this. We’ll ensure that your feedback is shared with our Store Manager, to follow up with the team.”
