Struggling Aussie grandmother of 12 wins $56,000
A Perth grandmother of 12, who was selling her possessions to afford food, has had a life-changing win.
On Monday, Annie Hughes from Kelmscott, entered a competition on a Perth radio show.
The competition required listeners to identify the “secret sound” being played.
After Annie spent weeks trying to figure out the noise, she solved the mystery of what the sound was – a blade being clipped off a disposable razor.
Annie pocketed $56,000 for her correct guess and her win couldn’t have come at a better time.
The grandmother said, "It's not as much as Lotto, but to us it's as much as Lotto, yeah."
She added, "We had to go to the markets yesterday and sell off stuff so we could eat this week."
Annie and her partner Mark said the money would allow them to finally live debt-free.
The couple plan to pay off a car loan, buy a caravan and take a holiday.
