This creepy mannequin is worth a fortune on Antiques Roadshow
In proof that you never really know what you have lying around the house, a British woman appearing on popular show Antiques Roadshow has discovered an old mannequin stuffed with horse hair is worth more than the large painting she brought in for valuation.
In true Antique Roadshows fashion, the large painting by the woman’s father is valued at £4000 to £6000, but Molly the Mannequin is worth between £10,000 to £15,000.
The mannequin, which actually features in the painting, was gifted to her father who eventually passed it on the woman.
“She’s beautifully made,” expert Rupert Maas remarks about the mannequin. “She’s fully articulated under here with a wooden skeleton.”
“It would have been every expensive originally in the 19th century. It might have cost 50 pounds in old money…” he continues, before shocking the woman with his estimation of its value today.
