Why Nick Kyrgios' fans are furious with his brother Christos
Nick Kyrgios’ brother Christos is in a lot of hot water with the tennis ace’s fans, regarding his choice of attire during yesterday’s second round match at Hisense Arena.
While the 22-year-old tennis star conquered his Viktor Troicki 7-5 6-4 7-6 (7-2), his brother was labelled a “human billboard” on social media for wearing a Sportsbet shirt.
Fans quickly took Twitter to voice their displeasure.
As if we don’t see enough gambling advertisements, we now have Nick Kyrgios’s brother acting as a human billboard in the player’s box. Standing up for the cameras. Are you serious, @AustralianOpen? 🤦🏽♂️

Interesting that Kyrgios’s brother can sit court side with a Sportsbet shirt so visible. Not much protection for #AusOpen offical sponsor William Hill.

The second round encounter was riddled with noise interruptions and questionable behaviour from unruly fans, but Kyrgios held his nerve and close out the match.

“It was tough, it felt like I was playing a lower level tournament. I didn’t hear the microphone, there was no music at the change of ends, it was just a strange atmosphere,” Kyrgios said in the post-match press conference.
