“Fly away”: Kylie Gillies’ emotional family update

Kylie Gillies has shared an emotional family update after her eldest son, Gus, embarks on a new journey.

The Morning Show host took to Instagram to share the moment she had to say goodbye to her son, as he leaves the family nest to study in Europe for 12 months.

“You help them grow wings ... and then they fly away ✈️,” Kylie Gillies wrote in the caption.

“A parent’s proud moment. And heartache too. Safe travels for the next 12 months Gus.

“Have fun, learn lots, make memories and if you don’t ‘what’s app’ us, I swear I’m on the next flight to Europe. 😂 Joking. Or am I? We love you❤️❤️❤️,” she added.

Kylie, her husband Tony, and their youngest son Archie were pictured embracing Gus and smiling together at the airport gate.

Many of her colleagues took to the comments to share their experience of how tough it is to watch their children grow.

“Oh I hear you!! We get them ready, but forget to prep ourselves. Sending you big hugs ❤️❤️,” former Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle said.

“What an amazing adventure. Goes a boy, returns a man x,” commented Larry Emdur, her Morning Show co-host.

“This would be so hard 😢 but he is going to love it!” wrote news presenter Angela Cox.

Sunrise host Natalie Barr commented with a simple sad face emoji.
