John Farnham’s sons share latest health update
John Farnham’s sons have shared an update on the Aussie icon’s cancer battle amid the release of a documentary about his life and career.
Robert and James Farnham said their father, 73, still has a “long road to recovery” ahead of him after having a cancerous tumour in his mouth removed.
However, they said “he is a fighter” and is staying positive.
Speaking to Sunrise, Robert said, “It's a fairly long road, as cancer is, but he is doing well and we get to spend a lot of time with him and his spirits are up, so that's all we can ask for.”
James added his father is yet to watch the documentary Finding the Voice, but is “proud” of the feature.
“He's pretty proud of it but he hasn't seen it yet,” James revealed.
“He doesn't really like to listen or watch himself so it's going to take a bit for him to watch it, but he's proud of the whole situation and very happy with it all.”
The brothers are also very proud of the documentary, and believe it tells the story of their father’s career - the good and the bad - in a “real and raw way”.
Robert said, “The producers and the popular director did such an amazing job. It was so true and real and really raw and for us we were at arm's length with it, but we got to see a rough cut of it and it was just phenomenal.
“It wasn't fluff; it was real. And that's what we loved about it.”
Farnham was rushed to hospital with a chest infection in March, which came seven months after his cancer removal surgery.
The legendary singer is now home and has made a full recovery as he continues his cancer treatment.
