Update: “Partridge Family” star David Cassidy in critical condition
The Partridge Family star and singer David Cassidy is conscious after being rushed to hospital in critical condition with organ failure last week.
A spokeswoman said the 67-year-old was admitted to hospital in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday after suffering pain. He is reportedly suffering kidney failure and needs a liver transplant.
Publicist Jo-Ann Geffen told CNN Cassidy is in the intensive care unit and has a breathing tube.
"He is conscious and surrounded by family and friends, nothing is imminent and we are taking it day by day," Geffen said.
Earlier this year the 70s heartthrob revealed to People magazine he had dementia and would stop touring in order to “enjoy life”.
The singer’s health has been deteriorating for more than two months.
