Princess Anne hospitalised
Princess Anne has been hospitalised after being injured at her home in Gloucestershire.
The senior royal, 73, is understood to have sustained minor injuries and a concussion on Sunday evening, with the full nature of the incident yet unclear.
However, it’s understood that her injuries are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.
The incident occurred at her Gatcombe Park estate, where she lives with her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and her two adult children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were home at the time.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Princess had been taken to hospital, where she remains for observation.
“She remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation,” the palace said in a statement on Monday.
“On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed.”
The statement added: “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery.”
Princess Anne has been forced to cancel official engagements in Canada as a result of the incident, and also had to cancel her attendance at a State banquet in honour of The Emperor and Empress of Japan, who are currently visiting Britain.
