“Strongest person in the world”: Amanda Keller praises Barry Du Bois amidst cancer battle
In 2017 Barry Du Bois was given the tragic news that his cancer from 2010 had returned as multi myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow.
Now, his co-host and close friend Amanda Keller claims the 58-year-old is the “strongest person” she knows, with many needing to take a leaf out of his book.
Sitting down with It’s Your Day, Amanda revealed she didn’t know the full extent of Barry’s cancer as his attitude had always remained so optimistic.
“He doesn’t give into fear. He tells you there’s something going on but he’s fine … it’s only when I saw the bigger picture that I got frightened for him to be honest,” she said.
“He’s the strongest person in the world and there’s no space for fear in his life. He gets up every day and he feels the most blessed man in the world, and that gift he gives to other people.”
She then went on to say: “What a gift it is for us to see how to live in the midst of what must be terrifying. Millions of us can learn from Barry.”
Last month, the father-of-two explained how his positive outlook on life is what keeps him healthy.
After being diagnosed with plasmacytoma in 2010 and multiple myeloma eight years after, Barry told The Daily Telegraph: “I celebrate every day … none of us are in the clear health-wise.”
“I have been through some barrels over the past 12 months, but I am putting them behind me.”
Though he has been said to ponder over his thoughts as he thinks about his seven-year-old twins Bennett and Arabella, who he shares with his wife Leonie Carol Tobler.
He told the publication that he sees every day spent with family as a blessing and feels “lucky” to have the chance to celebrate Father’s Day with his kids.
“It is hard for me to say I cherish Father’s Day more than any other day because every day that I wake up I am pretty happy,” he said.
“I am a very lucky man.”
