The Today Show: Deborah Knight asks Stan Walker bizarre question about cancer battle

Today Show co-host Deborah Knight has asked musician Stan Walker a bizarre question about his cancer battle during an interview on the show this morning.

The Australian Idol star spoke openly about his battle with cancer, with forced him to get his stomach removed last year and appeared on the Channel Nine breakfast program to promote the new documentary about his struggle.

But, Daily Mail reports the appearance didn’t go 100 per cent to plan, due to a strangely-worded question from presenter Deborah Knight.

The moment happened after Walker revealed he had witness 30 to 40 members of his extended family pass from the rare strain of cancer in his bloodline.

“It's bad to say, but it's kind of a normal thing,” Stan said.

Knight, who was interviewing Walker with Karl Stefanovic, chimed in.

“Did that terrible reality help you in some way, knowing that you've seen others and witnessed others so closely? Did it give you some insight into what you'd be going through?” she asked.

But Walker explained that before he got sick, he hadn’t even thought about it.

“Yeah, well, I kind of sometimes - I didn't pay attention a lot. Because I was thinking, “‘It's never going to touch me, it's never going to happen to me,’” he said.

“But then when it happened, I was like, "Okay I need to get into action" and it didn't really hit me until I got the operation,” he said.

“Because I didn't care. I was like, ‘Oh just hurry up, just do it.’ I didn't want to think about it. But thank God, with technology and science, we've come so far. It's an easy thing for these surgeons to do now.”

Our thoughts are with Stan as he continues to struggle with this condition.
