"Very pleased": John Farnham health update

John Farnham’s family has given a pleasing update after the singer underwent a gruelling 11 hour surgery for cancer.

The 73-year-old was rushed to hospital on August 23 and had a part of his jaw removed due to a cancerous tumour in his mouth.

Almost a month later, the singer is "progressing well" and has been moved into a rehabilitation facility as he continues to recover.

"John's recovery from last month's surgery for mouth cancer is progressing well," John’s family said in a statement.

"His medical team are very pleased with his progress over the past month.

"He was moved from ICU and into a general ward a couple of weeks ago. That in itself was terrific progress.

"Each of these steps means things are moving in the right direction and for that we are enormously thankful.”

Fans have been encouraged to leave well-wishes to the You’re the Voice singer on weloveyoujohn.com.au
