Good news for bald men
New research shows there’s a positive side to losing one’s hair.
Bald men are seen as more successful and intelligent than men with full head of hair, according to a study.
Scientist Albert E. Mannes (surprise, he's bald), at the University of Pennsylvania showed 59 participants pictures of men with a full heads of hair, and another of them with their hair digitally shaved off.
He found that the bald versions of the men were perceived by participants as more dominant, masculine, confident, taller and stronger than they actually were.
However, bald patches – a head that wasn’t completed bald – was seen as less attractive and weaker.
A separate study conducted at the University of Saarland found that as bald men are typically older, they tend to be seen by women as more intelligent and wiser.
