“We take full responsibility”: MKR’s Sonya and Hadil finally apologise
My Kitchen Rules villains Sonya and Hadil have finally apologised to fans after their verbal tirade and threats to other teams saw them get kicked off the show on Wednesday.
The NSW best friends took to their joint Instagram account on Thursday to apologise to viewers for their behaviour – but slammed Channel Seven who they claim “twisted, provoked and fuelled” the incident.
“We take full responsibility for our words that came out of our mouths and we apologise,” the pair wrote in a lengthy post.
“There is more to the "scandal" than meets the eye, however we take full responsibility for our words that came out of our mouths and we apologise.
“Like any reality TV show, no one but the people on-set filming 10-14 hour days know exactly what goes on behind the tears, the tension, the smiles, the reactions and the words exchanged.”
The pair however criticised Channel Seven, blaming the network for airing the fight.
“We will not apologise to the network who twisted, provoked and fuelled this entire situation,” they said.
“We do however wish to apologise to the viewers for having to witness and endure the situation which should have never been allowed to go to air. We wish the remaining teams in the competition the best of luck. Sonya and Hadil x.”
The new post comes after the pair had slammed the network in an earlier post, accusing producers of “bullying” them and using them “for ratings”.
The best friends also questioned the integrity of the cooking show and even hinted at a conspiracy to make them “look bad” because they were the “best cooks” on the show.
“We've been extremely disappointed with our experience and treatment by the show,” they wrote in an earlier post.
“Imagine how we feel watching the episodes back when the episodes have been extremely tampered with (the amount of editing is insane).”
They added: “12 to 14 hours of footage... majority of airtime is on us because they want to build us up for ratings which equal $$ to the network.
“I assure you people have acted a lot worse than us on the table, that hasn't been aired.
“We will both be happy when we're off air because MKR have bullied us enough, constantly targeting us because we were unfairly dismissed and the only way they could justify this was to make us look so bad!”
They also pointed fingers at other teams who they said were just as bad as them
“As for some of the other contestants who played up to the drama, they wanted us out because they knew we were the hardest team to take out in the competition. How convenient to get rid of the best cooks in the comp,” they said.
Sonya and Hadil also claimed that they only cooked “seven times in four months of filming”.
“We thought we were signed up to a cooking show, boy were we wrong!” they wrote.
